It's a good medium for this genre because when you're reading straight text it can be difficult to picture the world they're describing. This is my one complaint about Persepolis- the drawing style is so crude that you don't get a real sense of what Iranian homes/towns were like during that period. I'm in the middle of reading Berlin, which is a graphic novel about Germany in the late 20s, and I HIGHLY recommend it. The first two trade books are out and I guess the comic is still coming out periodically, but I don't know when the third trade book will be compiled or if it will be the last.
