the good news and the bad news

the good news: I just found out that Sims 3 actually works on my PC now that I have Windows XP! So now I can register and get all the extra goodies - I see they have some Halloween themed decorations available to download.

the bad news: I just found out Sims 3 actually works on my PC...TIME SUCK INITIATED! I lost a good 2 hours already.

AD and I started the Heroes s4 premiere tonight but he didn't realize it was 2 hours, and I had just installed Sims 3...so we didn't finish it yet. We both had forgotten pretty much everything that happened last year but I think we pieced it all back together. I'm already way too amused by the presence of Ray Park. He's badass, but then he has that accent. Reminds us of Eddie Izzard's bit where he makes Darth Vader British and he's just not that scary anymore...

I also brought home the DVDs of Mad Men s1 from the library. Plus I've got the DVR set up for Glee, Community, The Office, and Dollhouse for the rest of the week...oh I think I threw the Amazing Race premiere in there too because I haven't watched that show in years and I remember liked it back in the day...

I'm giving up on Marked for the time being. The writing makes me want to headdesk and besides, I've got until Oct 24th to finish it. I'll read it with my breakfast when my brain isn't quite awake yet, but for my concious hours, I'm going to start a book I want to read - which right now is Candor. I checked out the audiobook of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which I should probably read but there were no copies in at the moment and I thought I might be able to handle listening to it. Has anyone read that book? Supposed to be the shiznet.

Listened to Backspacer on my drive in to work today - good stuff. Sounds like Pearl Jam. I think I might like it more than the album before...need to figure out how I access my free downloads though, there was a sticker on the front of the CD that said I should get 2 free concert downloads or something. Also listened to the Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johanssen CD, though it was just on in the background so I didn't get to really focus on it. But Scarlett's voice is very cool, not at all what I expected.

okay, time to find my book and snuggle into bed.

Yay for working Sims 3! Just in time to get hooked for the new expansion. ;) (I am really inordinately excited to finally be able to build a basement.)

Is this your first time watching Mad Men, or just a rewatch?

I hadn't even looked at the new expansion stuff because I thought it wouldn't play on my old PC. But it seems to work just fine! A basement, you say??? Is that where you will hide the Sims bodies (my friend has a serial killer Sim...he totally plays the game differently than me).

I watched the first two discs of s1 waaaaaay back when it first came out, then I think a new season of regular tv started or a movie came out I wanted from Netflix and it got shelved. But after watching the Emmys and seeing friends flailing online about s3, I felt like I better get back on that!

I thought Marked was okay... I thought that the native american connection/dreams/visions etc. actually slowed the story down and made it drag. Haven't read the next one in the series yet.

Now, the Girl with a Dragon tattoo!!! I've been trying to get back into this for AGES!! I enjoyed what I've read so far, but I got distracted by some manuscripts that needed reading and now I can't get back into it :(

I'm on season two of Mad Men - I LOVE IT!!!!!

the native american thing felt really force, like they were uncomfortable with it just being straight up vampires (oh sorry, vampYres, gotta be different, only not). I just got past the part where the guy was getting a blow job in the hallway - that was random.

I can see how it would be hard to get back into! That book has so many things going on, I feel like I should be taking notes! Damn adult books...

I'm so excited to watch Mad Men, so many of my friends just LOVE it. Plus, the pretty.

Yeah that scene was pretty random... like the author felt they needed to throw some sex in just for the sake of it... gotta love the token sex scene lol!

Mad Men rocks!! They make smoking look so frakkin' cool.
