Spike? It's you. It's really you!
Feb. 1st, 2004 01:52 amMy therapist thought I was holding onto false hope, but...I knew you'd come back. (sniffles) You're like...you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever. Oh... he's alive, Frodo. (sobbing) He's alive.
Watched a lot of Buffy Season 4 today. Not much else on TV. Finally got up to the episodes that I've never seen as I didn't see this season when it originally aired and wasn't able to keep up with FX when they ran them 5 days a week. So it was kinda cool to see some Buffy action I hadnt seen before.
It's given my a whole new perspective on Riley. When I first saw season 4 and started watching season 5, I could not stand him. His presence made me upset. He always seemed upset or uncomfortable and I just wanted to smack him. But I really got into the show after their relationship had peaked in a way. Seeing them start out has really changed my view on Riley...at least, right now. He did like Buffy a lot. In fact, he loved Buffy. But I don't think Buffy ever really loved him in return. He figures that out mid-season 5 but in Season 4 everything seems happy go lucky. But whats weird is you can sort of see lots of hints that this isn't going to work.
This might be me over-identifying much, but after Buffy got out of her Angel romance, her first BIG love, she was searching for a normal guy to hang on to. And Riley showed up, very normal in appearance and he really wanted to be a part of her life. So she went with it. Why not? Someone actually liked her and even when the whole Slayer thing came up, Riley tried to go with it (though I don't think he was ever comfortable with Buffy's powers). I think, deep down, Buffy knew this a rebound boyfriend. She knew he wasn't forever. It makes me dislike Riley less knowing that she really does break his heart in Season 5 when she shuts him out of her life.
*sigh* I have Buffy on the brain. Got to read my essays again on Thursday and Friday while walking to work. Lots of good stuff in there. I'm gonna have to start reading the novels eventually to get my fix. Heard an Angel book is in the works though, so that should be cool.
In other worlds - I can't decide whether or not to buy boots. Actually, it's whether or not to buy them from Victoria Secrets.com These look like nice boots and I need boots as the current pair I have are very old, kinda tight, and have no traction on the bottom (and no warmth for that matter). But i've never bought shoes online before. And if I order them now, they would probably arrive after all the snow is gone. I need some hiking boots too, not that I plan to go hiking, but just in case. I can buy those anywhere though.
AD was laughing at me cuz I've been looking at these boots every night for a week or so now....$40 though....that's a lot of cash for shoes...(plus shipping)
ah well, I'm gonna go read
