HEY LOOK, I'M NOT PLAYING SIMS 3!!!!

Mostly because it's 10:30pm and I need to get to bed and turning on that game now would be a bad idea since I work tomorrow. Buuuuut I was bad and got the 20 oz. iced coffee after dinner today (I didn't have any cash and I needed it to be more than $5 to charge it so I got the big one...but then I had a coupone for $2 off and Andy owed me money so I didn't have to pay anyone but ended up with a HUGE coffee...and I drank it all) and I'm a bit wired.

OMG JUST A FEW MORE DAYS UNTIL TRUE BLOOD COMES BACK!!!!!!!! I started listening to Living Dead in Dallas in the car and so far I"m pretty impressed with how close some of the scenes from the book are to scenes in Season 2. I mean, it's obviously got some differences, but it's clear they studied the books a bit. It makes me leary of reading Book 3 in the series before Season 3 has aired - I like being surprised. [livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly, what do you think?

I also started listening to Curse of the Pharoahs by Elizabeth Peters, the second Amelia Peabody mystery. It was recommended by a co-worker. I LOVE IT! You must listen to it though because I think it's the narrator that does it for me. She nails the exasperated tone of a forward-thinking woman in the early 1900s. Sadly, disc 3 was cracked so I had to return it to the library and request a new copy, but the replacement came in today! But I need to finish Sookie Stackhouse's story first before I go back to Amelia.

I got 217 pages into Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Next and have to give it back. I think I'd rather listen to it. I'm finding reading it kind of difficult, and there are some really repetitive parts. I can't figure out if they just stand out to me because I'm reading it or if this is just an issue with this book. Either way, I wasn't too upset about having to give it back to the library today. I have so many other books I want to read, books that are much shorter so I should be able to get through them in a week or so.

And to make things worse, there is a HUGE Book Sale at the Scholastic warehouse on Saturday and we are going. Part of me hopes they have some good stuff and another part of me hopes they do not - because I know I will want to buy everything!!! I'm really hoping I can stock up on Birthday and Christmas gifts for at least the nieces and nephews. Yeah, it could be bad. But at least I have a coupon for $25 off my purchase...of $100...

I don't know if I've said this before, but if you're on GoodReads and want to be my "friend" on there, feel free! I love to see what other people read, plus as a librarian, your reviews are really valuable! I can't tell you how much I've used [livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly's write-ups on supernatural romance novels to booktalk them to patrons looking for a fun read. This is my crazy list - updated very regularly since I work at a library and see all kinds of interesting books.

There, a post entirely about books! I do more than just watch TV! :P

I've kind of wondered about the Stieg Larsson books.. I had such conflicted feelings about the movie.. so well done, but so difficult to watch. That, combined with the notion of reading a translated book (which is always iffy).. I guess I'm both relieved, content-wise, that it was the prose that made you turn it away, but at the same time, dismayed that the prose wasn't particularly readable.

As for Sookeh... this will be my first season having read the books first, but... I think it's worth it. ;)

And adding you on Goodreads!

I tried to watch the movie and it was exactly like the book...which REALLY didn't work on film for me because so much of the book is research (and, as a friend pointed out, cigarette and coffee breaks). At least when I listened to them, I could drift away for a moment and come back when Lisbeth showed up. But reading them is hard.

I'm really enjoying the audio, the girl sounds like like Anna Paquin to me. I might start Club Dead after this season is up and running a bit. Just in case...

Yes, a BOOK post! Yea!!!!

Had to turn in my copy of Larsson (Larrrrrssohnnnnonn) too. We were basically in the same place in the book. I don't know if he wanted to throw in the kitchen sink in this third book, but there's an awful lot going on. I probably won't finish it this weekend, but will need to before the book giveaway!

Looking forward to the Scholastic sale - it should rock! Yes, TONS of stuff for the nieces and nephews!

Did you finish it yet? I think I'm gonna wait for the audiobook to be available (I think I'm on the list for the Overdrive version).

No, not yet. Probably a good idea to wait for the audiobook. You'd think, though, that we'd buy it on CD as well, as popular as it is. But wait, no, we probably need more Fern Michaels books on CD! Yeah, that's it! What am I thinking???

I think you'd be safe reading Club Dead. The show is getting away more and more from the books. I've read and listened to them all on audio. They do use a framework, but the show still keeps me guessin'

Well, if you're twisting my arm. Finally got up to the part about Eric wearing the *ahem* lyrca leggings LOL!!!! Now I understand why everyone was disappointed that didn't happen last season haha.

I had read all the books that were out even before Season One, and I'm still consistently surprised. XD Plus there are a huuuuuuuuuuuge amount of differences so far.

I just could not get into those Girl Who (Did Various Stuff) books. I was 100 or so pages in to the first one and I just put it down and was like, NO. I'm not sure how keen I would be on listening to them either. So many people 'looooove' them, and it BAFFLES me. IDEK.

I read a lot of shitty para-rom books. XD A LOT. GOD BLESS THE KINDLE! We're going through all my Uncle's books slowly. Mom brought home like 200 books plus a ton of DVDs and it barely put a DENT in what he had up at the house. I have pulled all the ones I want, and have to wait for my brother to go through and pick what he wants before I can take them. (Which is stupid, because there were only 4 that I pulled that he would possibly want to read.) (One of which I already stuck in my room, because I don't give a shit if he wants it. LOL!)

Anywhoodle...BOOKS!!!

They are different but the same...I dunno, I'm probably gonna pick up Club Dead after I finish the Amelia Peabody BoCD I started before I picked up Sookie.

I love Lisbeth, she is a kickass chick. I think when I listened to the books, I was able to drift off and then come back when she was being a badass and taking names. Reading it is hard, plus she's laid up for the first half of the third book, so that takes a lot of the fun out of it.
