Saturday we went to see the Free-For-All production of 'Twelfth Night' at the Shakespeare Theatre in D.C. I invited along [livejournal.com profile] andy_wolverton and his wife Cindy since neither of them had seen any live Shakespeare before (I know!). What a production! I had seen this production staged the year before and I think I might have preferred this cast (shhh!). They were spot on with every scene.

Honestly, if you have any free time in the coming weeks and want to go hang out in DC for a day, I suggest you try go get tickets. It's totally free, you just have to stand in line early, then you go and wander around the museums in the area and come back for the show later.

Sadly, Sunday was not as fun. Poor Apollo had to go to the vet because we suspected he was peeing on clothes. When I Googled the issue, all signs said to take him to the doctor. Luckily, Banfield had an opening. Turns out he was having all kinds of trouble, but a trouble that is apparently very common among boy cats, especially neurotic ones like Apollo who worry about EVERYTHING. The Vet had to squeeze him until he peed. She told us to keep him on his own for the next two weeks an monitor him. We have a VERY exciting week ahead of us. (the only plus side I could think of was I could finally get revenge on those people on FB who post their child's bowel movements as status updates...)

BUT the good news is that today seems to have been a good day for Apollo. Even though he's been in solitary confinement, the litter box has been used, which means no emergency room visit. Still, gotta keep 'im separated for the rest of the week, doctor's orders. Starbuck isn't too happy with the situation either since we gave Apollo the bedroom and she likes to sleep with us. She will have to just chill for a week though.

I tried to go to Target today and return stuff after having buyers remorse over some Toy Story impulse purchaes ($13 for Evil Doctor Porkchop was a bit much). But I made the mistake of going back to the toy aisle before I left and ended up spending all the money I had gotten back (though I also bought some cat food in that purchase so really I only spent about half of the return money on more toys...). Scored a Snowbunny Padme for myself and [livejournal.com profile] jellibean, plus the Galactic Heroes Replublic Commandos (because that game rocked) and the new Clone Wars Yoda figure because, HELLO it's YODA (though I need to compare him to the other one I have...if he's exactly the same except for the packaging, I'll take him back since I'm an opener).

OH and I'm thinking of being totally NUTS and applying for a 20-hr/week position with Ask Us Now, the online reference service. They need an Assistant Operations Manager and I can do about 90% of the stuff on the resume and 10% I have lots of confidence I can learn. It would be ridiculous but fun, it's mostly managing online resources which you all KNOW I can handle.

But now I am tired. Two glasses of wine and a full tummy and I'm totally zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I hope Apollo recovers fully (and you aren't compelled to constantly tweet about his litterbox habits).

AUN job sounds right up your alley! Are you sure you'll be okay with a job & a half? Ah heck, of course you will! It will be a fun job. I'm guessing you can do it from home, or in between your current job?

I have no idea how I would handle the extra 20 hours. The job posting says that telecommuting would be an option and that they might need to see me face to face in Towson a few days. But maybe just getting my face out there would be good, in case something part-part-time shows up. It's all grant funded so who knows!

Really good production. I'll have to get you down here for one of the plays. AD's mom can get us tickets on the cheap (well cheaper) and the productions are always awesome. Plus, lunch at Jaleo is an eating experience!

I'm always up for anything. :) I might try to get up there after the season is over, but depending on off season work and when I need to be available for those functions it might be after the New Year.

Totally want to hang out more! Even if all we do is sit around, talk, and play Rock Band or watch TV. haha.

Well, after you recover from D*C, take a look at your calendar. We'll get you over here - let's set 2011 as our goal! We will make it happen! :)

I am totally down for that. ;) I have been working so much I am frothing at the mouth to be rewarded. haha. D*C is my reward for the first part of the season. We hit the busy part as soon as I get back and it will be HELL until Bridge Day (3rd Saturday in October, iffn you're interested in popping down. It's always the same time every year). After that the season is over and I will just be called in for some weddings and various private parties.

For real. :) You all are always welcome. Bridge Day just has to be experienced. If nothing else, but for the lulz.

Yeah, we ALL have those people on our FB...from back when we were carefree and happy to friend anyone, not realizing the sort of stuff they would "update" us on. *shudder*

That's not nuts! That's an awesome idea! Is it just for your local library, or the big 24-hour one that kicks in when the local ones are offline?

Eep, though.. Poor Apollo (and poor your clothes!). Glad to hear he's doing better and was spared a trip to the emergency vet. Still, the solitary confinement has got to be a little confusing for the poor fuzzball.

Ask Us Now is a statewide service but it's teamed up with QuestionPoint which is worldwide (that's how they cover the wee hours of the night). I've done the librarian side of it where we just answer questions in chat, but this would be updating the official twitter, flickr, website stuff as well as coordinating schedules for all the different systems that participate.

Yeah, he's not thrilled about being alone. But if he keeps improving like he has been the last day or so, maybe on Sunday she'll tell us he can come out and play.
