Marian Hawke - Mage

orangerfulSo I started playing DragonAge II again. Skyrim just wasn't doing it for me. I enjoyed it for awhile but, in the end, I need a bit more characterization. I wanted Lydia to be more than my House Carl - I wanted her to be my FRIEND! I wanted to talk to her about how she was doing, why she chose to be a House Carl, what she thought of Whiterun...then I realized I should just play DA2. I love all the interactions in Bioware games, it sucks me into the world, all the different relationships you can have with each character.
So, I started up a new character - she's a mage...
So, yeah, game glitched when I tried to change her name so she is stuck with the default "Marian", which is fine as I usually freak out over the name and it doesn't really matter in the long-run! Since last time I played I used my DA1 file for the background, this time I chose a pre-made one. I went with the Martyr storyline, putting Alistair on the throne.
ANYWAY - she's a mage. My last character was a rogue and she was super-snarky all the time. Marian is going to be a hardass most of the time. She's not evil though, she will still make the right decisions, she just doesn't put up with anyone's bullshit. I decided this last night because she had the quest from the Dwarf noble on the docks and the Carta guy asked me to kill him instead and, even though she's a hardass, she's not evil. She also let the other guy who had a hit on him live because he gave money to save Fereldon's during the blight. Couldn't kill him! So my Warrior playthrough will have to be the MEAN EVIL one.
I did the character creation in the afternoon and there was mega-glare on my TV so I couldn't quite make out her face so she's got some crazy pink eyeshadow and dark brown/red lipstick...but it works because it matches her hardcore face tattoo. It was just funny because when it randomized Bethany, she also had crazy random make-up on (hot pink lipstick) and Carver's hair was the same style. Though they were still both dark brunettes...while my Hawke is a blonde...need to go check out what the milkmen in Fereldon look like, know what I'm saying?

So I didn't realize that Bethany wouldn't make it through the intro since I was playing a mage. I wasn't even paying attention to Carver when he leveled because I figured he would bite the big one, so I was a bit shocked when I saw Bethany get her head bashed in. So now I have too many warriors in my party between him and Aveline and Fenris!
I like the new storyline about Hawke's father too! This really feels like a whole new game. And now that I'm better at RPGs than before, I feel like my Hawke and her team will be pretty powerful...which is why I am playing on HARD MODE. I've gotten my ass handed to me several times already but I don't care, I like the challenge. And now that I know how the whole story of the game works, jumping years after you complete the main quest, I'm trying to get the side missions completed before doing the main deep roads quest so I get all the XP I can before the next phase of the story!
Still not sure if she will side with the Mages or not at the end of the game. We will have to see how it all plays out. My rogue hooked up with Anders, I think Marian is going to focus on Fenris. She already did a bit of flirting with him. That is my only real gripe about DA2 - that the romancing is seperate from the main story so it feels like what you do on your quests doesn't effect your chances of shagging a character. I could be wrong though. And while Marian is a hardass, I'm not sure if she will get along with Isabella...
Not sure what to do about heals either, as I used Anders last game but I'd like to not have him around ALL the time like before. Maybe I'll try to teach Merrill how to heal since Marian is going to deal damage with her FIRE and ICE!
Still upset that I can't romance Varric. Hottest dwarf ever.

I want to play a mage eventually, but I really don't like Carver. lol. I can't make myself do it just yet. I always find it so satisfying when he dies. *is a bad person*

Like, I thought they were for awhile, because I was taking her everywhere and I got upset and reloaded if she died, but then once I changed into a werewolf in front of her and I was like, "Hm. Shouldn't friends generally tell each other when they decide to do a shady blood ritual and turn into a werewolf? Shouldn't that be something that is discussed on some level?" So yeah, I kind of wish there was SOME kind of reaction from Lydia when that happened, lol. (It also made me realize that they were not friends; Hanne was just using her to carry her stuff.)
ANYWAY this is not a Skyrim post.
~Mariannnn~ Favorite name. What did you name your other Hawke? Ooh and what happened at the end of your DA:O import? (With Alistair) And who did you romance? LOL Idk if we've talked about this and I just don't remember, or what. If we have, I apologize x)
Her makeup really doesn't look that bad! I had trouble with the eyeshadow a couple times... some colors look A LOT different in the character creator than they do in the game XD

You could always bring Varric with you! ;) lol have you ever heard this? It's by the same girl who did that Horizon song I had on my mix.
What do you think of Carver? I fully expected to hate him but, you know, I just couldn't. He's like a typical little brother. And I say that both as a good thing and a bad thing, haha. Idk, does Vincent annoy you like Alex annoys me?? lol

Awesome! I don't even play Dragon Age on Hard, lol. Too much work XD
