UGH I burned popcorn while I was on my dinner break and now I REEK of that
burnt smell...just...yuck. Every time I go to lean on my hand, I get a new
whiff of it from my clothes.

Also, I do not like that GoodReads is now automatically adding any of your
Facebook friends who join to your GoodReads list. It's annoying
because...well, there are people on FB I'm only friends with for games and
other people who are friends with me but never actually post so I've never
had a reason to remove them...and I don't give a crap about what books they
are reading LOL.

oh, yeah, btw, if you're on GoodReads, feel free to friend me LOL! I most
read YA and Children's books with the occasional adult book mixed in if it
had amazing reviews and I got it on audio. :D

LOL, hey girl.

Facebook is all up in everyone's business. Just now when I went to open GoodReads, before I could type in my login info, it was all "Connecting Using Facebook!" - didn't even ASK if that was okay. It's the not asking that really ticks me off.

Keep meaning to tell you how beautiful your layout is. So... beautiful layout!

Last time we burned popcorn in highschool we could smell it in the common room for a fortnight.

Aw, thank you! The link to the layout code is in my User Info, I just made the banner and tweaked the colors :)

Yeah, everyone kept running in from the back room to ask me what was burning and I kept having to repeat that I overdid the popcorn LOL. THE SHAME OF IT ALL!

Ugh, why why why do social networks think they know what's best for us and that we want to share everything with everyone? Even with my compartmentalization and fake names, I still have to fight that. NO google, I do NOT think I'll have a better user experience if I change my youtube account to my real name. YOU might have a better experience tracking me, but I won't.

I had nearly that exact thought process in my head when Google asked me to change my YouTube stuff to my real name. Not a fan of that idea at all.

YES - WTF IS THAT? I hate when it asks me that! I'm like "No, Google, that is the OPPOSITE of what I want". Annoys me no end!!

Yep. I've had another friend blog angrily about the YouTube thing lately, and I'm not a fan of it either. We make up fake names for a REASON, y'all.

SRSLY. After all the articles etc. about making sure your identity is "clean" for when companies do searches, you'd think Google, of all people, would understand WHY we want to be anonymous!

Ooh! I don't know if we're friends or not on Goodreads; I haven't been on there in a bit: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4274489-saintsalike

We are friends. :) I need to get back into the habit of...you know, reading. Ask the Passengers was so good, I'm in a slump now where no other books compare so I keep giving up a few chapters in. #librarianproblems

I know how that is. #litmajorproblems

I've been rereading my favourites lately; tons of Kafka, Borges, PKD, etc.

Meh. I'm not on GoodReads, but I have gotten the feeling that FB is trying to smarm its way into every little corner of the Internet.

It tried to sign me on through Rotten Tomatoes once. That was probably the weirdest one.

I think the thing that set me off was that it didn't even ASK - not a "would you like to?" but just HEY I WILL SIGN YOU IN OKAY!!!! -- not even a chance to say "no thanks".

Facebook has to do something though, they are losing money like crazy because no one wants to pay for anything online, especially social networking LOL

Well that's just rude on top of everything else.

Are they losing money? I feel like they must stay in the black with those goofy Farm Animal and Mafia Wars games alone. I have a cousin who's always trying to get me into those...

Their stock tanked from last May through last fall, but for some reason it's creeping back up. But they're losing users (and interest) in the US and UK, from what I've read.

Wonder if they just opened up in other countries so they are getting a bump from that? I dunno, they are also sucking in the "older" people now who use it to watch their family all over.

sucking in older people = will lose most younger people soon

And I say that as an older person. We ruin everything! haha

(but I will point out that I was ahead of the curve on fb abandonment. I'm much more comfortable as an early abandoner than as an early adopter :)

everyone plays the games but they don't actually *pay* for anything. And no one was clicking through on the advertising links, so some of the big one (GM is a name that jumps to mind) pulled their ads for this year. They keep trying to think of new ways to pull people in but I don't think it's gonna work.

That pissed me off too so I figured out how to stop it.

Stop it signing me in via Facebook and stop it adding my facebook friends.

Go to edit your profile and then apps. You'll see facebook and twitter and you can tell it to fuck off. :D

Or, you know, uncheck the ticky box.

lol. I just really hate Facebook.

If I couldn't have turned it off, I never would have used goodreads again.

I'm glad I figured it out, because I was just enjoying it again. But now a couple of my mom's friends can see everything I read. As well as people I don't even remember from high school. And there were only 400 people in my high school.

I DON'T KNOW YOU THAT'S MY PURSE!!! *kicks facebook in the balls*
