I haven't watched the episode yet but I know what's coming and...yeah...I've been dreading this episode all season. Heck, since the moment I read that scene in the books :(
yeah, it was just...wow...read an interview with GRRM today about the scene. He seems to know what he is doing...but was still sad to see so many of my favorite characters suffer...
Correct. I actually don't read a lot of fantasy. I don't have a lot of patience for reading about world building and consume most of my sci-fi/fantasy in visual form. Or graphic novel form. Either way, visually is better for me, especially when it comes to keeping track of tons of characters and locations etc.
Plus, I am a slooooooooooow/distracted reader, which also doesn't bode well for super-long books.
I haven't read the books either. Tend to watch the episodes a few days behind as well, so I'm only just now caught up to what everyone's freaking out about. Reaction post here.
I feel like I'm taking it well. If Jon Snow or Arya dies, that'll break me, but so far, it's brutal but in a good way.
(That sounds a bit evil... I mean good in a storytelling way.)
Yeah, right now I feel like it is their story and they should be safe...but what do I know! Someone asked me about Peter Dinklage and I said "oh he signed on for five seasons"...then I realized next season is the 4th and they are still in the 3rd book...AAAAAAAH!
Everything in service of the story. If GRRM makes this all work when it comes to progressing plot/characters, then it is worth it. Honestly, it's just nice to have a show that can surprise you! Been a long time since I yelled at the TV.
As someone who has been reading the books (I need to get back to A Feast For Crows soonish - I think I finally burned out on reading them since I hit the first three back to back to back within 3-4 months) I knew it was coming. And I think that's why it didn't impact me as much. Reading it play out in all its detail? That had me sobbing and in complete disbelief as to what had happened. I think if I hadn't known it was coming, I would have reacted a lot more strongly to it.
Yeah, I think the book readers were bracing themselves for it but because you all knew what would happen, you didn't have the same "WTF?!??!" as the non-readers like me.
Sorta reminded me of when I saw 'Serenity' in a screening then went to the regular showing later...first time I was just in shock and didn't know what to do. The second time I cried because now it was real.
