I swear, if the last three seconds of the 'Desolation of Smaug' movie are the same as the last three seconds of the 'Desolation of Smaug' trailer, I will throw a fit in the theater.

I enjoyed Unexpected Journey well enough, but I didn't love it. I keep meaning to rewatch it since Tim got the blu-ray for Christmas. But it's so looooooooong. And not in a good way.

Also, is this the first red-headed elf we have seen? Are there red-headed elves? red-headed elf sounds like slang for something...I'm not sure what though...

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS MOVIE YOU HAVE NO IDEA. :D

I loved the first movie so much. It honestly didn't feel that long to me at all, I was just so immersed in the story and that world and the character that time just flew right by. Hence why I saw it like five times in the theaters (and many more times since the DVD) ;) I have no doubt that the second movie will be just as awesome, if not better.

I don't think it will, since the movie will be about the destruction of Smaug.

I dunno, the trailer sounds like a lot of "don't wake the dragon" talk which makes me worry Smaug will have a bigger part in the final film.

Ooooh yeah just looked at IMDB and the descriptions sound like what I feared...maybe it will change though. The barrel sequence was supposed to be in the first movie so who knows what edits have been made.

Of course, if I go into the movie knowing this, I will be less upset. Jackson is clearly a dragon tease!

Having not read the book, I loved the first movie, I agree that it didn't seem long. And I love the thought of a ginger elf!

I wonder if she is from a different part of Middle Earth since she has red hair....

I listened to 'Hobbit' right before the movie came out but I had never read any of the LotR books. I think it probably did work against it for me since I kept waiting for scenes that were not going to happen. Now I know how all the other LotR and Game of Thrones fans feel.

I love the Harry Potter books, but the movies drive me crazy with how much they leave out.

I'm... kind of excited for this? I dunno. It's strange. I was on pins and needles when Lord of the Rings was being released and the wait between Decembers was always so long. With The Hobbit, I haven't felt the same enthusiasm. I liked the first one plenty fine, but I only saw it at the theatre once and have only played the blu-ray once since buying it. Though Evangeline coming in for this is hella exciting and I can't wait to see her.

I adore the LotR movies, even though I've never read the books. Hobbit I had listened to and watched the Rankin Bass cartoon back in the 80s so I was sorta more aware of what to expect...

I am excited but...cautiously excited?
