Now, what else shall I get for my Tonks outfit...I've noticed a LOT of the images have her wearing 'Weird Sisters' t-shirts. So I think I'm going to go over to Target tomorrow and look for a plain black t-shirt and get some craft puffy paint and create a "tour" shirt.

OMG INDY TOYS!!!!

*dies of the cute*

I want to go to Comic Con next year. [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy said he does not wish to go. So who wants to go with me?

I want to dress up too. Probably something simple, like Starbuck, or Buffy...I'll set these goals now, then I have a whole year to actually make them happen (or forget about them)!

EDIT: More cuteness - Lego Indiana Jones Video Game!

I made Indy icons! Just a handful made from 2 of the wallpapers at IndianaJones.com

The D.C. singalong is sold out! BUT, the website says they are already planning on coming back in November! I signed up for an email update, so as soon as they announce it and we can buy tickets, I'll get a headcount. (I know [livejournal.com profile] cheshire_c, [livejournal.com profile] blu_harvest and [livejournal.com profile] dstntp1lgr1m would be up for it!)

This is good because I had decided not to go because of Harry Potter, but on my way home I put on the soundtrack (permanent fixture on my iPod), then I listened to the NPR interview with the guy who runs the show, so I was just about to order tickets and probably end up dead over the weekend from being so tired. But it's sold out now, and hopefully I can make the November show! Huzzah!

Okay, remember how I posted that little voting entry a few weeks back asking everyone which fandom I should icon? Well, Buffy got the most votes along with 100 icons. So I was sitting here at the desk, clicking through the 100 icon communities, seeing what themes they all had, and I stumbled into [livejournal.com profile] whedon100...and...well...I just made a claim to do 100 icons from the 'Earshot' episode of BtVS! Eep! But I figured if I did it, I would have made a commitment and that would make me follow thru a bit more.

So, my job has been officially announced now, the fax came thru to all the branches this morning. Everyone has had only nice things to say to me. I'm really excited and looking forward to this new adventure in librarian land (OMG! I get to open my Giles figures now!!!) but I'm sorta bummed about not being at Crofton or West County or my other favorite branches with my buddies. I just figure I get to crash everyone's holiday parties, right?

In other news, we're actually going to be in town for New Years so [livejournal.com profile] simontrueheart and I are in the plotting stages of a mega-shindig of some sorts. Perhaps even on the level of hootenany, though it's too soon to tell. I'm thinking of some sort of trivia showdown, maybe with SceneIt or one of the trivial pursuit games and prizes! Then, I would show offcase all of our christmas presents, which will probably be mostly DVDs and video games. Ooooh, if I get one of the giant star wars lego sets, maybe we can all work together to make one!

Or, I could finally dig out my plans for a Buffy party and follow thru with that. Or maybe even a Jossverse party, allowing showings of Angel and Firefly. I had very elaborate plans, with special games and themed drinks (like, instead of a "Bloody Mary" we'd drink "William the Bloodys" and I'd carve the celery stalks into spikes/stakes, get it?) and such. And Buffy bingo! It wouldn't require any actual knowledge of the shows, I'd just make some bingo boards and we'd go from there.

OR, this one would be a bit rougher, OR we could do a best of 2005 party, and watch some of the movies that came out this year that were really good. Or even TV shows. Except the TV shows would be harder to get on DVD. Maybe we could do an "in memoriam" of TV shows and watch 'Arrested Development'...and then we could watch 'Serenity' cuz that's definately one of the best films of 2005...okay, never mind, that party would be far too out of control....I need to stick to tv shows so that we have time to mingle.

the only food we had left in the fridge was the making for lemon chicken....i love me some lemon chicken so 9pm could not come sooner. [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy has to tape 'House' for me so keep those spoilers under a cut as I'll probably just watch a Veronica Mars with dinner instead of waiting for 10pm to happen....mmmmmm lemon chicken...

I did it

Whatcha think?

EDIT: I also bought a PALz Drusilla while at Suncoast. I'd never seen her before and look! She has her little dollies! Miss Edith, you've been a naughty girl!

Well today was just all over the place. I went to do my last official babysitting gig this morning. Actually left there at 4 for once. It was a good thing I had already committed to that being my last day though, as I probably would have backed down after hearing all the chatter over there today. Too many cooks in that kitchen, if you get my meaning.

As as I was picking up Skylor, I missed a call from [livejournal.com profile] destertale. Turns out the theater we thought was donig a midnight showing seems to have the showing on Friday night, not Thursday (tonight). So we were trying to figure out what to do there. Of course, when I called her back it was crazy!busy at CRO so she had to call me back once she got off of work. So I drove to my parents because I had set up a date with my mom to go shopping. [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy said he bought ribs for dinner so I needed to be back around 9ish.

Anyway, so I get to my folks, and I'm chatting with them, and my cell rings and it's [livejournal.com profile] destertale and she says "You know you're supposed to be here now?" and I'm like wtf!!! Apparently, somehow I forgot to transfer my calendar dates so I never actually marked down that I was working 5-9! I had stopped taking Tues/Thurs evening because I was so wiped from sitting...but I must have agreed to this beforehand. But I had never written it on my main calendar and I hadn't checked my datebook for this week at all. I talked with the manager at the branch and apologized all over myself (and I'm going to write a letter to slip into her mailbox on Saturday). But since I was at my parents house, wearing only jeans and a t-shirt, it would probably have been another hour until I was there, and since I was already a half hour late...she said nevermind. She said that they still loved me, but I was so embarassed. Ugh. Hopefully, now that I'm done babysitting, this won't happen again. One job will be so much easier.

So then we finally get [livejournal.com profile] zaubervz and go to Kohls. We shop for a bit and I'm carrying around a pile of clothes and my cell phone rings and I figure it's more Serenity info, and I answer and it's BECKY! She's looking for quote from movies for a linguistics thing she's doing tomorrow. So we end up talking movies and firefly and serenity for oooh, at least 20 minutes, all the while I'm wandering Kohls. It was so random and fun cuz I was rattling off movie quotes. I roxor that much. Of course, after we got done, I felt crazy rushed cuz it was almost 8pm! So I tried on a few things, grabbed some new shoes (daisy fuentes stuff is pretty cool!) and we checked out. Well, I left my stuff with mom to buy and ran to the customer service area in the hopes of getting a price adjustment on the skirt I bought last week. BUT unbeknownst to me, it was employee sale day, so the service counter was insane. And all I got back was a $7! I was supposed to be more than that but i didn't feel like arguing, I just wanted to go home. (see, the skirt was marked as $18, but they charged me $25, and then I went in today at the skirt was %50, which would have made it $12! but whatever, she just dropped it to the $18 which was all I really needed anyway)

So I rushed home for some yummy ribs and corn on the cob, and Serenity #3 (2 outta 3 covers) came in for me too, so now I can read that before the movie tomorrow. I have a crap load of new clothes (mostly pants, I focused on the bottom half of my body today). And I need to get my lazy butt up tomorrow and do the last of my Core Ref before we meet up for Serenity. Madness will ensue, I do no doubt it.

Oi! What a day! I'm gonna eat some candy and most likely, play some WoWz.
orangerful: (serenity suit up // orangerful)
To all my Maryland peeps - looks like a gang of us will be seeing Serenity on Friday at Arundel Mills, most likely a 9pm showing (or there abouts, as Muvico has not posted times yet! I need to call and double check that they are actually getting the movie...) Anyhoo, EVERYONE is invited who can make it, we'll probably meet outside the theater around 8:30ish.

[livejournal.com profile] destertale and I will be dressed in our Joss Whedon Is My Master Now t-shirts and I shall be clutching my "Final Battle Mal" action figure.

To everyone else, well, I know you'll go see the movie! Because it's good. Even if you're not a huge Joss fan or even a Firefly fan, I'm telling you, you will enjoy this movie. It has brains and brawn. You will laugh, cry...edge of your seat stuff. Just...just go.

Ugh, I need to put down the WoW!!! I want to make pretty icons, I really do, but then I get home and want to play with the rest of the SunHawks guild and I don't get anything else done. My original plan today was to redo my corkboard above my desk, put up some more Serenity stuff, maybe some Ep III pics, and some newer buffy photos. But alas, it did not happen. I'm so bad. Inara is a 24 though...she rocks. She's backstabbing everyone in stealth mode and they LIKE it!

Working the 1-9 shift at West County tomorrow so if you have nothing better to do with yourself, feel free to stop by and ask me questions! Though I really have to finish my Core Ref - it's due by 10/3! I'm hoping it will be nice and slow.

Okay, off to read one of the many many library books I have beside my bed and then snooze for a bit.
orangerful: (star wars figures // spitefairy)
Well, I kept myself busy this weekend, and feel like I need a vacation from my days off. Currently, nothing is on the schedule for tomorrow, so that's what I plan on doing - nothing. haha. Hopefully the library won't call with any emergency spots.

RenFest was great. [livejournal.com profile] blu_harvest hitched a ride with us, so I chatted his ear off in the car on the way there (it's only about 30 mins max from home). Got there around noonish and met up with my parents and [livejournal.com profile] zaubervz. My parents were kind enough to hook us up with tickets (they can get a discount with their military IDs) so that was super cool. They went off to do their own thing, so [livejournal.com profile] zaubervz hung out with us. He had his pirate garb on as well. We wandered down to the tavern in the center of town and bumped into [livejournal.com profile] toothlesshag and her crew. She was really dressed up purdy, with a big green hat (and we all know from Pirates of the Carribean that it's ALL about that hat). [livejournal.com profile] verdatum joined us shortly thereafter, also very pirately. He had just rode over on an elephant! Okay, not really, he had just been riding an elephant, but it was mostly in a circle. We grabbed some hard apple cider and listend to the Pirates Royale play for a bit. Then we set off in search of our turkey legs! Yummy, delicous turkey legs. There's no way they are good for you, they pretty much taste like salt, but I love them so. While were munching, [livejournal.com profile] destertale called us and alerted us to her arrival, so we went towards the entrance to meet up with her and Dave. Then we headed off to The Bloody Drama : A Comedy Show which is always a giggle. They did a hilarious version of 3 Little Pigs, with some audience participation. We met up with [livejournal.com profile] dstntp1lgr1m at the human chess match, had some yummy black rasberry ice cream while we watched that. Then we did a bit of shopping. [livejournal.com profile] zaubervz found a cool little skull carved out of opalite (hopefully he'll post pictures). I grabbed a extremely cute, hand sewn dragon that I've been eyeing up for a couple years now. Plus another earring/necklace set. from Sozra because I always do. So pretty. And [livejournal.com profile] dstntp1lgr1m picked up one of the freaky!cool vulture statues made from shells and claws...well, hopefully he'll post a photo too because you gotta see them to understand them. Our feet were filthy when we got home, but we had a great time! ANd as a bonus, we gave [livejournal.com profile] blu_harvest some time on WoW, so he'll probably be hooked on that soon...

Today was the DC Star Wars Collector's Club meeting in Woodbridge VA. I hitched a ride with a few other members. Bob drove, Indy navigated, and I sat in the back with Pat and Pat. Bob has a DVD player in his van, so we chatted a bit, then I convinced them to pop in the Eddie Izzard DVD, so we watched a good chunk of that on the hour ride down. The meeting was a lot of fun as always. Lots of socializing. I came home with lots of goodies. Galen gave a presentation on custom Legos and figures and now I'm temped to try, if only to have an excuse to buy sharpies. One of the other members brought photos of his recent trip to Vegas, with pics of the Star Wars slot machine and the huge selection of Star Wars/M&M products at the big M&M store over there. Another member was super lucky and actually got to visit Rancho Obi-Wan! He told us all about the experience and showed up some pics. SO very lucky. Mostly, I chatted with everyone. I wore my new Joss Whedon is my Master Now t-shirt, which was fun because I had an excuse to talk about Serenity and Buffy with people. hehe. I got my Final Battle Mal figure too! Then we drove back home, chatting the whole hour ride.

Here are some photos of this weekend!! They talked about this photosite on Attack of the Show, so I'm using it to see if it's any good. Let me know if it give you any trouble.

Yes, so it's Sunday night now and I'm getting ready for a round of WoWz with my peeps. Hopefully tomorrow will be a day of relaxing at home, cleaning clothes and arranging figures.

It starts -- the Revenge of the Sith DVD Exclusives battle for my money. First entry: Walmart's Bonus DVD

So, I was thinking I should keep track of which songs I hear every morning on my drive to work. Not because I think my iPod shuffle isn't shuffling (though I have my suspicions) but I'm curious as to whether or not the songs have any effect on my mood/outlook of the day. So here's the playlist from this afternoon (mind you, it's a fairly short drive from my apartment to this branch):

Rockwell Church - Ohio on a Bucket
Rilo Kiley - Portions for Foxes
Bif Naked - Lucky

Hm...so two fairly upbeat songs, though the Kiley one is a bit angry at times. Lucky is a really slow song though...probably not the best one to end on. Silly iPod!

*shakes fist at Wikipedia*

I had this brilliant idea to start compiling a list of all the references to Star Wars in television and film. Decided I'd do a google to make sure noone else had a site already up. And who should I find but Wikipedia, the all knowing (worshipped by [livejournal.com profile] verdatum) already has a page started. True, it's far from complete, but it sorta took the wind outta my sails. Either way, I have decided that will be the purpose of the Darth Vader notebook I purchased last month. It shall be my Star Wars in Pop Culture notebook. I shall attempt to list all of them, new and old. Eventually maybe turning it into a website. Whatcha think?

We watched 'Shallow Grave' last night. I liked it. Definately was tense. Don't think I could watch it again, but it was fun in a suspense/thriller kinda way the first time around. And not to sound like "such a girl" but DAMN Ewan had a beautiful head of hair in that movie! So much body! I wish my hair was that pretty! Ah well.

the makers of [livejournal.com profile] whedonosity just started a new icon community called [livejournal.com profile] iconschool which looks like it will be more about posting tutorials and less about asking questions (which can really bog down [livejournal.com profile] icon_tutorial some days).

speaking of icons - for those of you that are graphically inclined, I posted a new challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] sw_challenge, this one is for concept art. So come over and check it out and enter!

[livejournal.com profile] verdatum alerted me to the fact that 'Pirate Weekend' at RenFest is the end of next month! Woo-hoo! We're going to attempt to get a gang together and walk around says "YAR!" all day. Should be fun.

I'm working 9-5 at Crofton tomorrow...so post to your LJs some amusing stories or quizzes so I can fill the time on the desk (every time I say this, it becomes crazy busy, which is good cuz the time goes even faster!)
