top ten movies I saw in 2012 )
orangerful: (belle and a book)
Here is a list of the books I read and enjoyed that were published this year. There's actually one adult fiction book in the mix! I know, you're shocked! But I listened to it and the reader is Jim Broadbent so...it was hard not to like it. The rest is children's and teen fic. :)

All the "best of" lists for the year are popping up, so I thought I would toss in my vote for my favorite movies from 2009.

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] andywolverton's top lists that he posted this week, I figured I'd post my thoughts on personal favorites from this year.

Favorite movies of 2008:

The Dark Knight -- More than just a comic book movie, this was an EPIC film. I just hope Nolan & Co. can keep it up.

Ironman -- One of the most fun and surprising movies of the summer. I knew nothing about Ironman until I saw this movie but now I can't wait for the sequel!

Wall*E -- Pixar does it again with one of the sweetest love stories ever told. Wall*E and EVA were this years best on screen couple!

Favorite Books of 2008:

Little Brother by Cory Doctorow -- 1984 for 2008. A little heavy on the technical terms sometimes, it was a very exciting read and a conversation starter.

Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary Pearson -- Another sci-fi tale of be-careful-what-you-wish-for. A quick read and quite the page turner.

I Love You, Beth Cooper by Larry Doyle -- Okay, this came out in 2007 but I didn't have a chance to read it until this year. This book made me LOL so much. Doyle used to write for The Simpsons and you can tell but how ridiculous yet plausible the situations in the book become. I hope the movie does it justice.

Y The Last Man - Whys and Wherefores by Brian K Vaughn and Pia Guerra -- okay, most of the comics were originally published in 2007, but I didn't get to read them until this year. I'll admit, I cried when I finished reading that final page and I will miss all of these marvelous characters.

Favorite TV of 2008:

The writer's strike kind of screwed things up this year but a few shows still rocked my sock:

House -- Talk about a comeback. You could feel something last year when they were hiring the new group and starting to work with House, but this season really clicked. I found myself excited about watching House again, rather than just obligated.

Battlestar Galactica -- Another jaw-dropping season and with only 13 more episodes left this will probably join the list of my favorite TV shows of all time

30 Rock -- Hilarious no matter what. One of the best casts on television and DEFINITELY THE BEST COMEDY on TV.

Favorite Video Games of 2008:

Rock Band & Rock Band 2 -- We bought the first one with our xmas cash and the second one the day it came out. This game is beyond fun, whether I'm alone or we're hanging with friends. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Gears of War 2 -- I love any game that has a co-op mode so I can play with AD. Gears 2 was way better than Gears 1 (which was a solid game in itself) and if Cliffy B says he will make Gears 3, I'm all over that.

Lego Indiana Jones -- Lego games rule and they are just great ways to de-stress at the end of a long week.
