[livejournal.com profile] coco_waters asked Do you have a favourite fictional character from literature? What about this particular character makes them stand out to you? -- I’ve always had a crush on Ford Prefect from HHGTTG. Even before I saw the BBC Miniseries, I found his whole attitude for attractive. He’s a good guy, he just tends to be operating on a different level than everyone around him, sometimes he freaks out about the most random stuff and other times he is so perfectly calm when danger is all around. If I was going to be abducted by an alien, I'd want it to be Ford.

[livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly asked Favorite Video Game -- I'm going to have to go with either Bioshock or Bioshock Infinite. Both of those games are so beautiful, they have amazing stories, but they also have some challening gameplay. Bioshock pretty much taught me how to play an FPS on the new consoles because the story was so good I did not want to stop playing so I made myself learn. But Bioshock Infinite was just so well done, the whole look and feel, the story, and how it all fits into the mythology. Confession: I was so depressed after I finished Infinite, I bought myself a little Elizabeth action figure to love and squeeze because I didn't want to be without her.

[livejournal.com profile] coco_waters asked Where did you last go on holiday? BOSTON! And MAINE! and New Hampshire LOL! But you already knew about that, didn’t you? My whirlwind week in New England. I’ve never been good at sitting still so most of my vacations are actually adventures. We ate a lot of food, probably walked at least 5 miles a day in Boston, binged on video game madness on Friday, drove up to Maine and hung with my crazy aunt and uncles and grandpa for the day, then went to New Hampshire to see my BFF and visit "America's Stonehenge" (only go to American's Stonehenge if you get a deal off of Amazon Local...it's not really worth it otherwise. In fact, it's mighty sketchy! But we had fun being loud and cheap).

[livejournal.com profile] pleasant_valley asked If you could travel anywhere in time where would it be and what would you like to bring back? Don't you mean anyWHEN? And bring something back? No wait, I've read that short story where they step on the butterfly in the past and when they come back to the future, the entire world has changed! I would touch NOTHING! ...honestly though, I'm not sure if there is any time period I would want to experience that way unless I had The Doctor to make sure I didn't end up dead. It might be fun to go back in time and see The Beatles perform live at The Cavern.

[livejournal.com profile] coco_waters asked Favourite season/time of year? Spring, on the cusp of Summer. Nice warm weather. I hate wearing shoes and socks so I love sandal weather but still cool enough to have the windows open and do outside activities. I'm also very fond on the Summer-about-to-be-Fall time of year too.

[livejournal.com profile] rogueslayer452 asked What is your favorite song at the moment? Probably something by Bastille from the Bad Blood album, which [livejournal.com profile] lostacanthus got me for my birthday. Heavy Weight of Living tends to get stuck in my head a lot after listening to that album. And the opening track Things We Lost in the Fire:

I also love that Ain't It Fun by Paramore is getting so much airplay. I adore that band...well, mostly Hailey...and it makes me happy to hear it on the radio.

I tried playing the Bioshock Infinite DLC "Burial at Sea" the day it came out and it kicked my ass. Several times. I had it set to Medium difficulty because I had JUST finished the main game and figured I could handle it. After becoming insanely frustrated and looking at reviews online, I realized it was more of a game design flaw than my own incompetence. Copy+Pasting Booker and Elizabeth into Rapture is awesome but the way the ammo/eve system was set up in the original game vs Infinite made for some issues - mainly NOT RUNNING OUT OF AMMO/EVE EVERY BATTLE!

I became insanely frustrated and rage quit. Then this past week I saw that Part 2 of the DLC was out. I had bought the Season Pass so I had essentially bought this DLC already. I decided this afternoon that there was no shame in playing on Easy, if only to find out how the damn game ends! Maybe someday will go back and try it on Medium but right now I just want to play with Booker and Elizabeth because I sorta missed them.

There was some kind of update that popped up when I started the game too, so I'm hoping that maybe they did patch the whole ammo/eve system. Either way, I've only died once and it has been a far more pleasant experience.

Anyone else playing through this DLC?

Old friends, new friends

So this is how the story goes:

When I was little, my parents took me to see E.T. in the theater. I liked the movie, but like any child, I was very upset to see E.T. leave. My mom tells me I left the theater with tears in my eyes, telling her that E.T. could have lived with us. At some point, maybe later that day or later in the week, I was given my very own E.T. plush to love and squeeze and take care of.

A few years ago when E.T. celebrated it's 20th Anniversary and Universal released a whole new set of toys, my parents got me the life-size doll in this photo.

And this year, I played Bioshock:Infinite. I adored the game and especially "my" relationship with Elizabeth. As the credits rolled, all I could think was how much I was going to miss her, that I didn't want it to be over, that maybe there were more adventures to be had.

So last week, in a moment of retail therapy, I stumbled across the Hot Topic 25% off sale and there was the Elizabeth action figure, just calling to me. I had to have her!

Now Elizabeth and E.T. can live here in my apartment of misfit toys and continue having adventures here...

and they will. :-)

So, it's been a busy couple of days. Apollo appears to be feeling well but we've still got him in quarantine. We got back to the vet Sunday so hopefully things will get a check mark from her and we can move on (and get our apartment back!)

Just a couple of random things I was spazzing over yesterday then forgot to post:

--> Bioshock:Infiinte OMFrGs YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!! Gotta wait until 2012 but this looks AWESOME! I noticed in the interviews with the creators they keep saying "From the makers of 'Bioshock'" and make no mention of Bioshock 2...anyway, watch this beauty of a trailer. I can FEEL the epic story already, which is what made me fall in love with Bioshock the first time around:

--> AMC Walking Dead trailer is up and it's awesome and OMG OCTOBER 31st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Yes, I had the day off today because of the icy/snowy conditions. YES I SET MY ALARM FOR 7:30AM ANYWAY!!!! We went over to Target at 8am, RIGHT when they opened (but not before I slipped on the ice and landed right on my butt - BUT THAT DID NOT STOP ME!!!!!!!!!!!) We got there and I hussled over to the video game section, trying not to get too excited in case they didn't have it in stock - BUT THEY DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I have it in my hands!!!! I AM PLAYING IT NOW!

WE MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE STOPPED AT STARBUCKS ON THE WAY OUT...and the guy was having trouble with the machine so he gave us 3 ESPRESSO SHOTS in our coffee to say Thanks for waiting WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, ME2 will be on break for a bit while I play this biznitch. I'm even gonna kick it up to HARD mode.

OMGILUVTHISGAMESOMUCH *FLAIL*

So, I put off pre-ordering Bioshock 2 for too long. For some reason I kept thinking the release date was the end of February, closer to my birthday. But it's next week. I want the Limited Edition version which comes with extra awesome (music CD, art prints and other random stuff). I went to Gamestop's website and it's not even listed. I Googled around and found out that Gamestop has already sold out of the Xbox version (there are plenty of PS3 apparently but I want it for Xbox in case I want to play online).

So I'm doing the unthinkable, I'm ordering it from Amazon...and I'm actually PAYING for shipping!!!! Unfortunately, since it's the Limited Edition, they are not doing the "delivered on release day" thing. So I forked over the extra $3 to get it delivered in 2 days. So I should have it for next weekend, which is fine because if it arrives on Friday I can play all night. Of course, I work Saturday and then Farpoint is on Sunday (erm, which I have yet to buy a ticket too...)

Whatever, I'm saving at least this much on my commute now, right? I was able to drive 2 weeks on half a tank of gas and I didn't have to fill up until today.

Still, I'm kicking myself. But at least I should have Mass Effect 2 later this week to keep my distracted...and I started over on DragonAge...but I'll post about that later...
