So, I haven't had a chance to type up anything Doctor Who related yet since Capaldi joined the team...so I think it's about time I did a quick run down of thoughts and feels etc.

Deep Breath was a decent enough introduction. I felt it took far too long to get started. Of course, they wanted to start off the new series with bang, but a dinosaur? Random. I, of course, appreciated it later when The Doctor echoed the T-Rex's plea near the end. Oh I feel like Vastra is starting to get over-used, though I did enjoy the banter. (though did they say "we're married" like a 100 times in that episode? I think we knew they were married from before...and it just kept coming up again and again...it was distracting to me.)
ANYWAY once the main story got going (about the time they met up at the restaurant) I was having fun. I do like the clues and hints that are being laid out for us for the season. The theme of The Doctor being angry and struggling with it, wanting to know whose face he has. Why he is Scottish? The BIG questions.

Sadly, I wasn't as thrilled with Into the Dalek but I'm also not a fan of Daleks in general. I know they are near and dear to Classic Who fans but I'm just never satisfied with their episodes. Again, some definite hints and groundwork laid for later on in the season, (is it still foreshadowing if you can see it coming?). And all the strange "soldier" talk was just...it never really felt right with the rest of the script, I can't remember the Doctor ever being so HOSTILE. When he met up with the monks during the weeping angels episodes in Series 5, he wasn't cruel to them. I know he's supposed to be angry this season but it felt out of character. I'm just going to pretend most of that episode never happened.

Tonight's episode, Robots of Sherwood was just stupid fun. Like Clara, I have a soft spot for Robin Hood. Always have. And I liked his sparring with The Doctor, who The Doctor clearly felt threatened by being proven wrong (yet again) and Clara pretty much saving the day at the end. It was just nice to have a light episode with lots of laughs.

And I loved that final moment between The Doctor and Robin, especially the one line, which I immediately wrote down in my book of quotes:

History is a burden. Stories can make us fly.

To sum up: trying to stay positive, feeling better after this last episode, guess I'll keep watching.

I'm feeling the same way about Doctor Who. Deep Breath took WAY too long to get going and a lot of it seemed forced. I did like the Doctor's characterization though so that was good.

The Dalek episode, blah, brought out more of the personality but I wasn't really enthralled with the episode as I normally would be.

LOVED Robots of Sherwood, I think Gatiss did a fantastic job on this episode. I was kinda worried that they were going to have Robin be fake, but to have him be real was a nice ending. I can see this helping the Doctor figure out more of who he is now.

Yeah, I think I will give Gatniss all the credit, I do tend to like his episodes a lot. And I was worried about Robin being a fake as well, but I am so happy he wasn't. I just hope we start getting a *few* answers to The Doctor's questions soon, just because there are so many ??? floating around now!

The only thing about the questions though is that this is Moffat, it's going to go on for the entire season before we finally get some shred of an idea of what's going on, and that's super annoying.

I'm actually a big classic Who fan, but I don't care for the new Dalek episodes either. I mean, sure, I squeal for the nostalgia value, but they do seem very jarring in the new episodes.

I'm not sure how I feel about Capaldi either; he does seem like the most openly hostile Doctor since 6 (and I didn't like 6 either).

Agreed on Deep Breath. Certainly took a while to get the 'ball' rolling, didn't it? It seemed like a slow progression, if even slower then we're used to. Into the Dalek was just weird to me.

Sherwood's probably my favourite so far - loved the banter between Hood and Doctor.
