Bob's Burgers finale was tonight and it had a musical number. <3 I really wish they would just release an album. There were rumors one was on the way in 2014 and then nothing.
And now I was distracted for 15 minutes trying to find out more about the album, ending up on the Bob's Burger twitter page, downloading gifs...sigh, the internet is such a rabbit hole.
I finished watching Season 2 of Kimmy Schmidt which was better than Season 1 but still not perfect. My favorite episodes were the ones with Tina Fey but I love Tina Fey on my TV. And I really liked Titus' arc this season too. This show does work better as a streaming show than a regular TV show though, not sure I would tune in each week but I don't mind just watching them while I'm bumming around.
Also, Kimmy ends up at Universal Studios, Florida in the last episode and OMG I WILL BE THERE SOON! TWO MORE WEEKS! I NEED A VACATION!
We finished Season 3 of The Americans and need to start Season 4. Hopefully FXNOW still has all the episodes. It was quite a cliffhanger but that show is SO DAMN HEAVY I have to take a break for a bit.
This season of Archer is off to a better start than the last two but still missing...something. I just don't find myself laughing out loud as much (though the episode before last was pretty damn hilarious and might be my favorite so far this season, probably because the entire cast was involved).
OH I finally saw Captain America: Civil War. I've been commenting on a lot of people's posts. I'm not a huge Marvel fangirl, but the movie had received such rave reviews I wanted to see it on the big screen plus we had a gift card.
I feel weird saying this but I kind of wanted MORE discussion and politics. I found the explanations for each side kind of lacking. I got where they were both coming from but it was quickly explained away so they could start fighting and I really wanted more of that emotional drama of them talking about right and wrong.
I think I picked up one of the 'Civil War' trades YEARS ago, before the Marvel movies were even a thing, maybe just IronMan was out and I was curious about superhero comics (I had actively avoided them before that) and someone had referenced that series as good stuff. I think the arc I picked up was mostly about Spider-Man and Peter Parker was in court being questioned...it was this crazy legal drama with superheroes! And I was kinda hoping for that and less of this weird bromance love triangle with Steve, Stark and Bucky.
It was fun but I don't know if I will watch it again. It did make me want to see 'Ant-Man' which I apparently did NOT have on hold at the library even though I thought I did!!! UGH! But I have acquired a copy so now I just have to find time to watch it.
Yesterday I watched 'Steve Jobs' with Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen and Jeff Daniels, directed by Danny Boyle and the script by Aaron Sorkin. I could not take my eyes off the screen. I seriously thought I would just put it on and maybe hang out, play on my iPad but as soon as it started (I don't even think there were credits, it just starts) I was entranced. Definitely lots of artistic license taken, think of it less as a biopic and more like a play about Steve Jobs that tries to condense his life into 3 big events.
It was REALLY good. Like, I can't decide if I should give it 4 or 5 stars good.
Oh, and of course, Game of Thrones was on last night.
I find whatever the hell is going on with Bran's storyline to be VERY CONVOLUTED! I don't get what Max Von Sydow in a tree is all about, I don't get the whole vision/time travel thing, and the entire Hodor thing was just a huge time travel paradox wtfuckery. This is all new stuff I assume and not in the books?
Also, I find the reveal of the White Walker origins to be underwhelming. I hope there is more explanation coming because it was so "we made them because humans" was not enough for me, especially when a few moments later they conjure fire grenades that would have really messed up some humans pretty easily.
Thank goodness for Sansa, Arya and Dany's stories though. I really want these three ladies to continue to kick ass and take names(a girl has no name).
Also the Wildling Leader "flirting" with Brienne is adorable and creepy all at once LOL. Don't stare dude! She can totally see you! haha.
Anyone else watch anything good this weekend? My shows are wrapping up so it will be time to find some "summer shows" soon.

Date: 2016-05-24 03:15 am (UTC)I'm uber behind on GOT, but don't mind spoilers, and Sansa's storyline has totally changed in the show. She's still pretending to be Littlefinger's daughter in the books. There's another character who was her friend that disappeared when Ned was beheaded that was passed off as Arya and married off to Ramsey. From what I hear, it sounds like they've decided to combine Sansa's storyline with what happened to her friend in the books in the show.
OMFG BRIENNE. I've seen so many gifs of the Wildling leader attempting to flirt with her and they have killed me dead. ESPECIALLY WHEN HE WAS "SEDUCTIVELY" EATING LMAO.

Date: 2016-05-29 03:10 am (UTC)I think they've made some wise decisions in compressing some of the GoT book storylines in the show. I read a few articles after last season to see what they left out and so much of it sounded like Martin treading water. I had read elsewhere that he felt he started Arya and some of the other characters "too young" in the books and was trying to age her up so all these side stories appeared.
I love Brienne anyway, I'm always happy when she is in an episode. I really hope she survives the show! Brienne and Tyrion, now that would be a hilarious couple ;-)

Date: 2016-05-29 05:49 am (UTC)Arya's storyline is good in the books, but idk how it progressed in the last book since I haven't read it yet. I think that with book to movie or tv adaptations, there's always going to be some things that change for the better and for the worst. It's just the way it is, but there's nothing wrong with that. ngl, Davos is way better in the show. I was bored to death during his chapters in the books lol.
I love Brienne! I was so excited when she was introduced on the show. I was like YESSSS BRIENNE HAS ARRIVED! I hope she survives the show and books. OMG lol imagine Brienne and Tyrion's adventures if they meet up?!

Date: 2016-05-24 03:56 am (UTC)As for GoT: Ugh. I have been trying so hard not to get sucked back in. I'm over the show and its rapey shenanigans, but damned if everyone hasn't been raving about it this week. I need to find one of those character compilation binge sessions on YouTube or something.

Date: 2016-05-24 05:08 am (UTC)I watched "Steve Jobs" as part of my preparation for the Oscars this year. I wasn't expecting to be too into it, but I ended up liking it more than I thought I would.

I enjoyed Ant-Man. It's an entertaining film.

Date: 2016-05-24 01:43 pm (UTC)I felt the same way about Civil War, I wanted more discussion. Everybody was so genial and buddy buddy and I didn't quite understand what all the fuss was about.
In the original comic book they also didn't discuss it enough. One side was like, "Rar, control! Government! " and the other was line "Boo, freedom!" And then lots of fighting. They went into it a bit more in the innumerable connecting books, but the central premise is sound, and I don't know that the also reasonable fear of government overreach was ever explored.
I think you read the Civil War Spiderman series where he gets taken to court for lying about being Spider-Man by J Jonah Jameson.

Date: 2016-05-30 03:28 pm (UTC)That was the most morally complex moment in the movie and I would have liked for it to go on.
Here thar be spoilers! (GoT current ep)
Date: 2016-05-24 03:19 pm (UTC)I had to google that earlier today because I wasn't sure. The whole thing about Hodor did come from GRRM, though it hasn't appeared in the books yet. (The visions have been in the books.)
Also the Wildling Leader "flirting" with Brienne is adorable and creepy all at once LOL.
That might be my favorite thing in the show so far! I love it!
And I was kinda hoping for that and less of this weird bromance love triangle with Steve, Stark and Bucky.
HA! I love that description of it. :D
Can't wait to hear what you think of Ant-Man!

Date: 2016-05-24 06:18 pm (UTC)I agree with you about Civil War. However, I have to give them props for balancing so many factors and characters in a movie that wasn't 4 hours long. I suspect its weaknesses will be a lot more apparent when I get to watch it on DVD.

Date: 2016-05-29 03:54 am (UTC)Yeah, I'm not sure I will watch 'Civil War' again. It was fun the first time, on the big screen with a bag of popcorn, but I feel like on my regular TV it might be underwhelming.

Date: 2016-05-25 03:23 am (UTC)The whole time travel thing on GoT was really weird. I didn't quite get it either. I watched the little thing at the end, and the show creators said that George R.R. Martin told them the origin of Hodor, so I guess that will be in book 6, maybe? The show has passed the books now, so it's just all creative license mostly with a little direction from Martin and his endgame ideas, I guess.

Date: 2016-05-29 03:58 am (UTC)Wondering which will end better - the books or the show. The TV series has really taken on a life of it's own with all the tweaks and such they have made to the novels. I wonder if Martin has taken any notes from *them* for the new book!

Date: 2016-05-29 02:25 am (UTC)A Bob's Burger's album would be amazing. I feel like that probably exists on the internet already so the show should do an official one and make some money on it at least.
I haven't seen Ant Man yet but Civil War also did make me think that I really should make time for it.
I've recently binged the last bit of Castle (not the best ending but at least not a cliffhanger) Finding Carter (total cliffhanger, they were clearly not expecting to be cancelled!) and Slasher (not great but fun if you want 8 episodes of a show that's essentially a so bad it's fun horror movie). Last Summer I watched the first season of the Scream series and it was surprisingly fun.
