I will eventually type up my thoughts on #RiseofSkywalker but until then, here are initial reactions in GIF format:

I feel like I've been going through the stages of grief the past few weeks.
I imagine you have. My mother who was a Master's level or "Professional" Social Worker for 40 years told me that what people call the "The Five Stages of Grief" are more like five stages of response to a traumatic event. I didn't fully get it until I saw someone else illustrate it online by pointing out how you can go through them over a dead car battery-- Denial: you keep trying to make the car start when it won't, Anger: you swear at it because it won't start, Bargaining: you make promises to whatever you believe in that you'll do thus and such if it'll just start, Depression: you give up and burst into tears, and Acceptance: you make the phone call to AAA for help. Given it was traumatic you've probably been working through it. Course, with some of the movies I mentioned I've either never fully gotten past denial or anger, but that's me.
I'm not sure I can go back and watch it again, it really just didn't do what I wanted it to do and it didn't give me anything I ever wanted to see again.
If there was nothing in it you ever want to see again there is no reason for you to ever watch it again. I can give you two examples separate from any of the movies I've already mentioned of things I've watched exactly twice, and only watched a second time for a specific reason.
Example One: The film Highlander: The Source which a lot of the fandom has either avoided watching altogether or gone into denial about having watched after viewing. The first time I watched it just to see what it was like, which was mostly God awful. The second time I watched it I did it specifically to be certain I could quote word for word the only lines of dialog in the entire movie I cared for in the least. The dialog, for the record, was my favorite character in the franchise named Methos telling another character off with--"I saw Christ teach, I saw Christ heal, you, you self-centered son of a bitch, are NO Christian!"
Example Two: Rather than being a film at all is an episode from the eighth and tragically awful final season of Voltron: Legendary Defender. Shortly after my one and only full viewing of that entire season someone in a V: LD comm I was in at the time, who was avoiding watching the season, having heard the reactions to it in the comm, asked if anyone in the comm could tell them at what point in the episode "Zenith" did little happy AU Lotor make his appearance. I rewatched that single episode just so that I could give her the time mark so she could enjoy that version of Lotor without having to watch the whole episode.
If you have neither the reason nor the time to watch RoS twice DON'T.

I mean, it's mostly gifs that are angry and sad LOL

Date: 2020-01-04 04:26 am (UTC)From that "angry and sad" comment, I'm gathering you, like most of my timeline, hated it? I . . . feel like I'm somehow betraying half my friends by enjoying it as much as I did. Like, I did mute ALL the things, but the general feeling of "WE HATE THIS" came through despite that, and I never really saw the context of why.
(I have a squee post up, though! I'm sorry!)

Date: 2020-01-05 04:39 am (UTC)And it's funny you say that about your Twitter timeline because most of mine liked it. I felt like the odd one out after it came out. **shrug** Like I said, everyone has different things they want/like.
The real problem is these assholes saying you're not a "real fan" for liking/not liking it.

Date: 2020-01-05 05:36 pm (UTC)And HELL NO! I worked hard to weed my timeline of negativity LOL. Pretty much have it down to LJ/DW friends, IRL friends, and a handful of YouTubers, authors, actors, and a couple journalists that I trust.
