Me, logging on to Twitter and seeing ALL THE BANNED ACCOUNTS !!!!!

He tried to hijack the official POTUS account and his head of social media's account and then made a new one and they were just SUSPENDED! Also Rush Limbaugh was suspended.

okay, on that note, I'm going to bed, to dream of all these hate-mongering asshats being removed from social media.

I finally typed up a post on my Wordpress blog about my experience playing Alice is Missing, an amazing tabletop RPG.

And I just checked my twitter and not only did the CREATOR OF THE GAME like and retweet my post, but the official publisher of the game also just posted it to their twitter.

I feel internet famous. **BREATHS IN** aw yeah, endorphins are hitting the fangirl part of my brain just right.

Anyway, if you want to read it, you can find it here.

And if you would be interested in playing, let me know or hang out in the Hunters Discord. Lots of people looking for groups. I do have the Roll20 app so I can host a game.

It is an emotional roller coaster.

Dicebreaker did a giveaway contest while I was on the road to Florida. All you had to do was like and share a post on Instagram so I figured what the heck! Mostly wanted to just spread the word about the lovely YouTube Channel/website.

BUT IT TURNS OUT I WON! :D

Of course, now it is a race against time as they try to send my prize from the UK to USA before Thursday so I can participate in the live stream. They are sending me an Owlbear D&D miniature to paint "with" them on Thursday morning (well, my morning, their afternoon).

Anyway, best part was them trying to figure out how to pronounce "orangerful" and, for some strange reason, going with a hard "g" sound. You can watch the clip here (because of course I found it and tweeted it)

Did I mention I've never painted miniatures before? LOL. Just ordered myself some paints off of Amazon. Fingers crossed that the OwlBear arrives soon!

You know, some people might not like their Mom to follow them on Twitter but it comes in handy when you have a crap memory and there is some kind of cute meme going around. Today the question on Twitter was "What was the first movie you cried at?" so I retweeted @ my Mom and got this this answer:

you're welcome.

Toss a coin to your fangirl...

TFW you retweet something and put a ridiculous comment to go along with it...only to have the creator/showrunner/headwriter/exec. producer of that show "Like" your tweet and comment on it.

A friend on twitter just alerted me to this free, printable cuteness:

World of Moose Advent 2019

Yes, it says "Advent Calendar" but there are plenty of unnumbered penguins that you could easily alter this to become a countdown to the new year.

Print one out for yourself and let's color and reflect as 2020 approaches. <3

I stumbled upon the Official SparkNotes twitter while in Wisconsin and it had me giggling for quite a long time. If you need some literary humor in your life, you should definitely give them a follow.

Twitter SparkNotes
Instagram Sparknotes_

I kinda want to print a bunch of them out and stick them all over the library.

This is a bit of a mini-rant but I was finally able to put my finger on one of my angry!fangirl triggers and it is entitlement.

For example: I wasn't a big fan of the finale of Game of Thrones. We've discussed it on here, my coworkers and I have discussed it, the whole world has discussed it.

THAT IS GOOD. That is what entertainment should do - start discussions. Even something as frustrating as the finale of a series, the one good thing it brings is discussion. Yeah, we were upset, angry, frustrated, and we all talked about it and it was great.

But then things got mean. People started petitions to re-write and re-film the show. First, it is insulting to everyone that worked on this show (I think [personal profile] rhoda_rants might have been the one to tweet this) - these people spent years writing, filming, editing, and more to create this show for us. They were paid to do their job and they did. HBO is NOT going to pay them to do it over. The show is over, the series is done.

Second, it is just so entitled and immature to demand that the artist remake THEIR story in YOUR vision. Yeah, their vision might have been poorly thrown together, a mess, not beta-tested, but it was their story. The end. Don't like it? That's fine. Tell people not to watch the show. Lament the mistakes. But how RUDE to demand such a thing.

One of the people I follow in Twitter (a random Star Wars fan that I'm still not 100% sure how I ended up following) has turned in to one of the whiny fanboys about the latest trilogy and it drives me crazy, but he mentioned GoT and Last Jedi in the same tweet and it made me realize something - one man's trash is another woman's really enjoyed Star Wars movie. How do we know there are not fans out there who liked GoTs ending? They might exist, but the constant screams of other fans have drowned them out. But should we make them feel bad about it?

I really enjoyed TFA and TLJ. Yeah TLJ has flaws, but I really enjoyed watching the story unfold. He tweeted something the other day about how the 'Rise of Skywalker' trailer looked like they would "apologize to fans" for what they did in TLJ and, again, that entitlement, that taking it personally. Star Wars is a franchise enjoyed by millions of people. For you to claim that your experience with the series is THE defining experience and therefore if you did not like the latest movie, the artists owe YOU an apology for not enjoying THEIR story...it's childish.

He's gone on some other tangent now about corporations owning the intellectual property and hiring "mercenary artists" to do their work and I feel like I might be done because that phrase is just very nasty sounding and sounds like he is done talking now. This happened before when we tried to discuss TLJ because he hit a ridiculous level and I decided not to follow.

*phew* sorry. It has just been bothering me and I keep responding. We're debating and it is a civil conversation but for some reason it just annoys me no end. Maybe it is because of the internet and that we have access to show creators in a way we didn't before and people abuse that power.

okay, done now. I think I'll play Monster Prom and clear my head a bit :P

And it is glorious. I am now following this Twitter account so I will be both amused AND safe!

Well, I survived the start of our summer programs AND early voting at the library, huzzah! Since the voting machines were set up in the library's meeting room, we had to do our preschool aged programs on the public floor, which was an adventure. I had the toddler program this week and they are already an easily distracted bunch so having them in the children's area was like torture for them because they wanted to run around and touch everything. But we got through it and they all seemed to have fun. I was even brave and sang "Los Pollitos" in Spanish and I also played a couple songs on the ukulele (I mean, they only had two chords but still!) So it was nice. That was my last PreK program for a few months, we all take turns so we only have to do them about twice a year. Next week I will be on an interview panel for new library associates so that will be a whole different world. Which is what I love about my job.

Working tomorrow BUT I'm skipping out early because PARAMORE!!!!!! It was a last minute decision but we did get seats in the pavilion (they may or may not be covered...so hopefully it stops raining) and it should be a blast. I've seen them live a few times and they never disappoint. Foster the People is touring with them so they should be fun to listen to. A band called "Soccer Mommy" is opening...I need to go download their album on Spotify and see if I like it.

I've also gotten into this bad habit of using Twitter again. I barely used to log on, but the past week I've had it open at work all day. It is a bad thing to do, with the shitstorm that is our country right now. I mean, things are bad enough, but Twitter just makes all the ignorant come to the top. There have been a few nice surprises though - a band I used to listen to years ago, Rockwell Church (it just happens to be their last names, they are not a religious band lol) anyway, they happened to be hanging out together and played a few songs and posted them to twitter and it just made my morning. I almost cried while sitting at my desk. I really should listen to their stuff again, but the music is tangled up with so many emotions from my previous relationship. He was the one that introduced me to them, we saw them in concert so many times...but they do have some great songs and I'm a sucker for guys with an acoustic guitar.

And apparently Panic! At the Disco released an album today too so I need to download that as well. (Have I mentioned I finally got the premium plan with Spotify? Oh wait, yes I did because I had you all suggest music and THANK YOU so much for that. Anyway it is so worth it).

I have TV shows to talk about but I think they will get there own post because so many things...

I usually save my book posts for after I've finished the book but I have GOT to talk about this book right now. Mostly to say YOU GUYS HAVE TO READ THIS. Even if you don't end up agree with Jon Ronson's conclusions (which I don't even know what they will be right now as I'm only halfway through) it will make you think twice before tweeting anything about anyone, especially someone you don't actually know well. Or even just clicking on an article that is shaming someone.

The thing that really grabbed me was his initial research into public shaming as an official punishment. It was outlawed in the late 1700s (except for in Delaware, who apparently didn't take it off the books until the 1960s??). Why was it stopped? Because the onlookers were too INTO IT. People wanted to see others suffer, they joined in, they demanded MORE punishments, harsher treatment.

And somehow it has creeped back into our society via social media. And it may be more brutal because of the anonymity people feel they have online, the detachment from the people that are actually being hurt.

I dunno, after all the social media storm around Baltimore, with people posting photos and videos and misrepresenting some things...this book hit harder than I was expecting. Ronson's style is VERY readable, he has a snarky tone, but he doesn't let himself off the hook. He includes himself, using a royal "we", when it comes to talking about the problem. He's not talking about trolls, people who make a living about attacking others online, but just how every day normal people, like you and I, can get sucked into these attacks...and when we do it we think we are doing something good, that we are part of some social justice movement but in many cases it's a case of he tweets/she tweets and everyone loses.

Gah, I haven't read a book this quickly in a long time. I'm halfway through it and I have a hard time putting it down but I really want to recommend it.

Ashley responded to my tweet, which was a suggestion on how to get the rest of the money out of my wallet. Well, pretty much. I suggested that they have some feature on the site that would link together the shirt styles because I have a few that I really love and it would be SO awesome if there was just a list of all the shirts on the site cut in the exact same way.

I got my order from ThinkGeek yesterday which included a new Her Universe shirt and another TARDIS skirt (this one is slightly different, it is a mix of TARDISes and the Union Jack...I NEEDED IT! And I had a 20% off coupon!)

Anyway, it's one of the reasons I love Her Universe. I feel like Ashley is trying her best to build a brand that is for the female fans. She got a lot of flack for the sizing and now she has added a LOT more sizes and some plus size shirts, skirts, and dresses to the line. I don't mind paying a little extra for her clothes, knowing that she seems to really love what she is doing and wants to make sure the fans are having just as much fun as she is.
