funny, I just can't seem to care.
Feb. 21st, 2007 11:20 pm'lost'. What can I say? I'm finding it hard to care anymore. Tonight's episode was just so painfully boring. Ditch the flashbacks, just flashing between the Others group and the main group is enough now. The flashbacks have gone from giving me character info to making me not like the characters anymore.
Also, the line "Let me get you some stones" should be never be uttered between two men. Yes, I'll admit it, I started giggling like a 12 year old. It was a line worthy of Tobias. And has Jack been kidnapping children and killing people while we were out? I think everything that he's guilty of pales in comparision to what we've seen the Others do.
I did not like Bai Ling. I didn't find her attractive at all (give that chick a hamburger) and honestly felt the entire flashback sequence was a waste of time. And I do NOT count Jack's tattoos as one of the big 'Lost' mysteries.
OMG it took me FOREVER to realize that Isabella the Sheriff was Jay's Mom from 'Wonderfalls'!
I also do not like Juliette. I've never like her. I don't like her face or the way she carries herself. They are obviously setting up some sort of Jack/Juliette *thing* and I don't care for it.
Also - if you're marking someone as a punishment, you might want to put that mark somewhere VISIBLE! They didn't give Hester the letter "A" and tell her to tuck it in her pocket, they stuck it to the front of her. People have to poke Juliette in the back to find out she's done something wrong once (though who knows, perhaps that's how the Others greet each other back in 'burb island)
Sadder part - I started watching at about 20 after, so I could fast forward thru commercials. And I caught up with the show at 10:50. So, with flashbacks and commercials, how much actual story are we getting anymore?
The last two episodes have apparently been horrible for Lost as far as ratings. And I'm not surprised, by 10pm, I'm really not in the mood for this. The discussion thread over at
lost_tv only had 29 posts, most of them from the Canadian viewers that got to watch the show at 8pm. Back in the day, there would have been 100 comments, gasping at every reveal, but I think there's far less to gasp about now.

Date: 2007-02-22 07:07 am (UTC)I'm glad the show doesn't suck as hard as I thought it did. They're still not telling us enough, but at least there's some enjoyment there.
I've never been big on flashbacks. Most of the time, they tell us very little. Yes, the odd time when they're important, they're good, but any manual on screenwriting will tell you that flashbacks are cheap and unprofessional. Tell the story in the here and now. Look at The Dark Tower. The story's going, and then suddenly it stops for 525 pages so Roland can tell about when he was a kid. That's where I stopped reading for a year.
The only flashbacks on Heroes happened when Hiro went back in time. Take notes, people. This is how it's done.
