I just finished 'The Subtle Knife'



AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Poor Will!! After all of that! To have his dad shot right in front of him! And no better explaination than that she used to be in love with him! If he goes postal in the next book, I will not be surprised!

And Lyra's true name???? WTF! EVE! (okay, and if they are saying they can remove the religious references from the films, they are clearly on crack!) And Mary must act as the serpent, according to the Dust??? And Coulter wants to prevent the fall? So is that good or bad? I thought the fall was bad, shouldn't they want to stay in the garden? And why are the Angels helping Will? Or are they big fat spirity liars?

...what is going on! Angels, Demons, God Destroyers, Specters! And Coulter can control the Specters? What is she???? (and right now, in my mind, the specter's look a lot like light blue/transparent dementors...because that's just the level of creepiness I'm coming up with)

That scene between her and Sir Charles...where her monkey demon is stroking his snake demon...yeah that was a bit weird. She's just so creepy.

And poor Lee & Hester! AH! If only he had remembered Serafina's branch before the battle started! I had forgotten about it too! That was so sad, with Hester curling up next to him...aaaaaw. Too sad. :( And Lee was really ready to adopt Lyra next time he saw her, you could tell he would just scoop her up for a big hug when they met. But now that will never happen! *cries*

Wow. Just wow.



I have no come to the conclusion that the movies will probably suck. A lot. Golden Compass might be okay, but these other ones there is no way. Nope. Not gonna translate onto screen if it's being made by a big studio. I wish the BBC would just do a miniseries version, like they did with 'lion witch and wardrobe' all those years back. They wouldn't be so worried about the content.

Amber Spyglass - Disc 1 tomorrow morning! What a way to wake up!!!

I agree with you, there is no way in hell that the movies will carry the same content. Well, I've been surprised before. :)

It's a full cast! Pullman is the main narrator, and than each character has a voice actor assigned to them. I really like it, cuts all the "he said she said" confusion down.

Except it's a different actor for Will in 'Amber Spyglass'! I started it this morning and his voice was too deep. Same Lyra though. The land of the dead has some freaky sound effects for when she's talking to Roger.
