So...AD and I were talking tonight and...well...

We bought a Playstation 3.

I know, I know, I was gonna wait until Christmas and hope that Santa would bring it but NOW Santa can just bring me a giant bag of Blu-Ray movies LOL! This is also what comes of living right next to a Target store - you can just wander over and buy random stuff at odd hours.

I'm reviving my old playstation account while AD gives Killzone a try. Got to play Little Big Planet for a bit. Too cute! Once I've created my own Sackboy, I will take some photos and upload them.

We ended up buying the 80GB bundle, which came with a copy of Resistance and MotorCross. Then we bought Little Big Planet and Killzone 2. I've add Uncharted and Heavenly Sword to our Gamefly queue.

AD said it is sort of a belated birthday/anniversary gift. This is why we are an awesome couple. LOL!

So, if I'm sort of quiet the next couple of days, that is why. haha.

Very, very good reason to be absent!

I'm a 360 girl, myself. But I do want to play Little Big Planet. XD

I had Raving Rabbids 2 checked out for my DS for the past 4 days and it's so fun. I am definitely going to get it when I get some $--especially if we have a used copy. haha.

(Also this seems to have become my 'happy' icon today.)

We have the 360 too, and I think over-all it will get the most use as a gaming console. But the whole Blu-Ray thing plus a few really solid exclusives made us finally cave in. LOL - watch them announce a price drop tomorrow ! haha.

I didn't know there was a Rabbids for DS! Might have to check that out. :)

Congratulations on the new addition to your household. ;)

You need to get Wall-E on Blu-Ray. It looks amazing, and the Blu-Ray version has a "geek commentary" with a bunch of the Pixar guys that's hilarious.

Oh. And I'm thesenator624 on the Playstation Network. :)

But I already have Wall-E! D'oh! haha.

I sent you a little friends request. You'll be my first PS3 friend!

Yay! Welcome to the light side of the Force!

And, OOH! Now I have a friend on Playstation Online!

Resistance in the best FPS I've ever played (Fallout 3 notwithstanding). It has fantastic two player split-screen action (one of the only games in all of PS3 that does). We rented Resistance 2, and for some odd reason, they removed everything that made the first one good.

The other great thing is you can download demos straight from Playstation Store. I only say this because there's a reason I don't yet own Heavenly Sword (the demo looked great, but involved nothing but button-mashing). My roommate liked Uncharted.

And do you mean Motorcross or Motorstorm? Motorstorm was my first PS3 game, and it's awesome. The wipe-outs are awesome.

whoops, I meant Motorstorm! It was sitting aaaaaall the way over there and I was too lazy to go look at the cover haha. But it is good too? Sweet, actual good free games! And Resistance is 2 players???? YAY!

Yeah, I just put Heavenly Sword and Uncharted in my GameFly queue. I remember X-play saying Heavenly Sword was amusing but it was only like 2 horus long! Any other PS3 titles you recommend?

(and OMG you're still alive? You've been so quiet on here! Start posting PS3 game reviews so I know what to rent!)

Heh. I read it every day. I just stopped posting, because I didn't feel like saying anything.

BTW, I'm engaged now. To [livejournal.com profile] chellykins AKA Chelanna. Won't get married for another year and a half, because she's away on a missions trip to Eastern Europe!

Yes, Resistance has two player story co-op, and on top of all that, it's side-to-side, not top and bottom, so you get a much better view on a widescreen TV. The only weird thing is player two isn't part of the story. Just a mysterious black guy running around behind the hero, with all his weapons and powers.

My friends still come over and play the game.

The games most played on my system are:
Rock Band 2 (by faaaaar),

Fallout 3 (by myself and two others. I've racked up over 150 hours of play),

Resistance (which really made me wish number 2 was just the same game with more maps and a few new weapons),

The Simpsons Game (which is worth getting on any system, and has a very fun two player co-op story mode.)

Need For Speed: Carbon (with Tahmoh Penikett)

The Darkness (one player FPS with amazing voice acting and story, with stuff you'll never see in an FPS again. Super unique)

But by far the coolest thing I've got, you've probably got on your XBOX. The Orange Box has Half-Life action I haven't even beat yet, but Portal, I beat within 12 hours of owning it. And I still showed it to everybody I know.

I owned Call of Duty: World at War for a few minutes, before taking it back to the store and trading it in for half the price. I hated it that much. Haze, too. The worst game I've played on PS3.

I do, however, recommend a slightly retro game you can only get at Playstation Store. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo was very briefly available for the Sega Saturn, and is the coolest head-to-head competitive Tetris clone with chibi Street Fighters on the market today.

The other thing I recommend is that you go into your settings and find the thing about DVD upscaling, and the related stuff, and kick it up to maximum. You have no idea how high the quality goes on those things. I have a TV that's one step down from 1080P, and we can't always tell the difference between DVD and Blu-Ray.

But I own a lot of Blu-Rays.

Congrats on the engagement! I'm sure the big day will roll around before you know it. :)

Oh, I still rock out on Rock Band all the time. I'm soooo excited for the Beatles version. Still not sure if I'm gonna just get the game or the boxed set with the special guitars. Finally bought the "Ten" album pack and rocked out to Pearl Jam on Tuesday.

We rented Fallout 3. I think AD beat it, I played a little bit but just didn't have the time to commit to it so we sent it back. I have Prince of Persia right now, which is fun. Feels like a rental though, so I'm happy I didn't buy it new.

Is that the Simpsons movie game? Wow, maybe I'll get that after we buy another controller!

Yeah, we just bought a new dvd player when we got our TV...guess we'll try to craigslist that sucker haha.

Yayayay!! Little Big Planet is so fun!! That's just about the only thing I play on mine, though I'm looking forward to FFXIII, of course. (I mostly use it for the Blu-ray).

omg I tried to look at the level creation area and I was just overwhelmed. I'm enjoying the game mode though. Since we already have an xbox360, the PS3 will mostly be for exclusives and Blu-Ray playing. And, if we can get it to work, streaming video from our new server. *crosses fingers*
