So, now that we have the PS3, the urge to buy everything in blu-ray format is very strong. At first, I was going to resist, but now I want to see how pretty my movies can really be.

We watched Blu-Ray 'Iron Man' on Sunday night. I even put on my glasses to get the full effect. It seemed clearer. The sequence that really stood out to me was when Iron Man makes his first appearance and flies out to fight the terrorist baddies. During this scene, there is ash raining down from the sky. I never really noticed it before, but on the blu-ray it was very clear. I know that is just a little thing, but it was when my brain finally said "whoa, this IS better".

Yesterday, AD put in our regular Iron Man DVD, just to see how big a difference it was. WOW. Looking at the regular DVD, it was clear how much better the blu-ray image is.

So now I want to see my other movies and see how much better they look and sound on blu-ray. I guess this is really the first big media format change I've been through as an adult. I mean, the big cassette to CD and VHS to DVD happened when I was a kid/teen, so it wasn't me paying for yet another copy of Star Wars or Sting album. But now I will know the confusion of deciding what needs to be upgraded, and what can wait.

Amazon has the Lord of the Rings trilogy available for pre-order on Blu-Ray. GUH - WANT! Frak that, just noticed it was THEATRICAL and not the extended versions, which I prefer. Blah.

A blu-ray collector's set of Battlestar Galactica has been announced but I am of two minds about that. Part of me is spazzing like a fangirl. But the other part of me, the part that has purchased s1-s4.0, plus Razor, is worried that this will not be the definitive set and in a few years time maybe another, better, boxed set will be released. Someone get Ron Moore on the phone and ask him if they have put everything they can into this set! [livejournal.com profile] dexterette and I were discussing this on her LJ and unless they can convince me that they haven't just copy+pasted all the content from the original dvd releases, but have actually added new stuff, I'm probably gonna hold off on this one.

I think if we buy any boxed sets in blu-ray, the first purchases will be Band of Brothers and Firefly because from all the reviews I've read, they took special care in the transfer of both of these programs.

So, yeah, I dunno. I feel like I should hold off on buying anything else this month but at the same time we have this powerful hi-def machine and I want tos ee everything in hi-def NOW! haha. Life is rough.

oh boys.

So, I decided to see what the Playstation HOME was all about, so I logged in and made my little avatar. I don't really get it. It's like the Xbox community but one step further (too far?) where you actually walk around as an avatar and talk to people. I dunno, it's a bit too Second Life for me.

And, because it is a video game world, as soon as a FEMALE avatar walks in, all the guys run up to you. No joke. Soon as my girl was wandering around in the Central Square, these two dudes are suddenly by my side all "Hello!" "Wanna dance?" "Have you been bowling?" And the funny part is, to initiate the text chat, you have to stand really close to the person, so not only are these random strangers talking to you, they are all up in your face! haha.

I swear, as I was logging out, I saw these two guys talking to a female avatar and these were the bubbles over there head -
"I'm a stay at home mom"
"u married?"

seriously guys?

I did go to the bowling alley though. There were some random mini-games in there. It was amusing but then I realized I was using my state-of-the-art PS3 to play the equivalent of Breakout so I left and went back to playing my real games.

We also figured out how to get my PSP to talk to the PS3...though we have no idea what they are supposed to be talking about. But apparently I can now download PSP demos thru my PS3 so that is pretty sweet.

Also, there needs to be a way to export your SackBoy in his/her current outfit to the internet so you can show off the adorableness. Ah well, I'll just take some literal screen shot with my camera next time she's striking a pose.

oh, and if you have a PS3 and want to be my Friend (not that I have many games yet) you know the username. *wink wink*

So...AD and I were talking tonight and...well...

We bought a Playstation 3.

I know, I know, I was gonna wait until Christmas and hope that Santa would bring it but NOW Santa can just bring me a giant bag of Blu-Ray movies LOL! This is also what comes of living right next to a Target store - you can just wander over and buy random stuff at odd hours.

I'm reviving my old playstation account while AD gives Killzone a try. Got to play Little Big Planet for a bit. Too cute! Once I've created my own Sackboy, I will take some photos and upload them.

We ended up buying the 80GB bundle, which came with a copy of Resistance and MotorCross. Then we bought Little Big Planet and Killzone 2. I've add Uncharted and Heavenly Sword to our Gamefly queue.

AD said it is sort of a belated birthday/anniversary gift. This is why we are an awesome couple. LOL!

So, if I'm sort of quiet the next couple of days, that is why. haha.
