Finally watched the last two episodes of this season of Doctor Who.

I am disappoint.

I feel like the writers dropped the ball on what could have been an epic episode but mostly became sorta...meh.

**sigh** I need to just realize that nothing will ever be as well done as Series 5.

More thoughts later, when it's not 12:30 and I don't have to work the next morning.

And then I'll go tag hunting to find everyone else's reaction posts

(or you can just be super-helpful and post links in the comments...then I can read them at work tomorrow...because when I work on Saturdays, I hardly ever feel like doing work...)

Heh.

My reaction post to the last episode is here, but I'm planning to do a proper review still. I'm only up to "The Bells of Saint John" in my 7b reviews, so just watch my feed if you want ALL my thoughts on it.

I liked "Nightmare in Silver" a lot, but "Name of the Doctor" was like being gut-punched right in the feels and the logic sensors at the same time.

Definitely a hard hit to the logic sensors. My head was spinning to much to appreciate any of the feels.

Well as you can probably tell from the avatar, I'm a dedicated River/Eleven shipper, and that kiss was very satisfying. *squee* Even though the way they crowbarred it into the story was extremely clunky.

I have a sense that Moffat does that a lot, crowbars plotlines in order to achieve feels. It works on me sometimes even though I can tell what he's doing. Makes my shipper heart go pitter-pat, but I resent it from a purely storytelling point of view.

I feel the exact same. I'm not bonding with Clara and so many people like her. She's cute and adorable but I kind of feel like she's the kid sister that tags along but she's more harmful than good? I dunno.

Also - Matt says he's leaving the role of Doctor as of the Christmas episode. Maybe David is coming back or perhaps finally a ginger?

I saw about Matt leaving today! I hope they can give him a proper send off. Curious to see who they pick next. Sorta think Moffatt also needs to pass the torch, I like his style well enough but I think the reason 11 worked so well was because they both started together...

But yeah, I feel like Clara never got there either. She had all the right bits - cute, funny, snarky, smart...but her story never clicked all the way to make her as interesting to us as the Doctor found her.

I'm kind of feeling like Moffatt maybe doesn't know where to go? The whole Clara storyline didn't have that big of an impact as so many people say they got from it. I found myself dragging through the episodes, trying to like them. I was waiting to see emotion from 11 and Clara but it was barely there. Except for the one involving that leaf that started Clara's life. So many people got into Doctor Who from the 5th season on but I started on season 1. Everyone has a favorite doctor but I just like one more than the other but like them both enough that for them both to stay would be awesome.

Ugh, agreed. I figured it must come to a conclusion by the anniversary special, but I felt that something was lacking...

Bringing back the villain from the Christmas special was just damn lazy. And it didn't feel like the season was leading up to this...more like they realized the season was ending and threw it all together at the last minute. Wonder if Matt's eminent departure had anything to do with wrapping up Clara's storyline so quickly? Or whatever the 50th special is about...

But it was definitely a feeling of "meh"
