I finally watched 'The Queen' last night. I have to agree that it was well acted by everyone in the cast. It was fascinating to watch because I had no idea of all the turmoil that Diana's death caused. I mean, I remember when she died. People were upset. But we never heard about the controversy of the Royal's reactions (Or lack there of). And I didn't know that it all happened around the same time Tony Blair became Prime Minister!

It has to be very weird being the Queen. People complain that the Royals are out of touch with reality, but how could she ever be in touch? She comments that she knows what the people of England are like, but how can she know what modern society is when she lives in a bubble, surrounded by a culture that was created centuries ago? It's like she lives in a time capsule.

Anyway, the movie was great. You really are forced to see the ordeal from several different perspectives. There are no villians or heroes, it's just life. That's what made a movie that should have been insanely dull so captivating.

Next up from Netflix - Kinky Boots!

I decided to give this a try after reading your little review of it. When I first heard about this movie I expected it to be more about her life and how she became queen, what she has done, etc etc. I really wasn't expecting it to all be about Diana's death.

I agree, it was well acted, and I loved the little Corgi dogs running around, and also the Stag, which I thought was really well executed (no pun intended).

Yeah, I had no idea it was about Diana's death, so when I finally heard about the movie's story, I wanted to watch it. Definitely well done. I love how she was able to boss those little Corgi's around and they actually listened! haha.

Well, looks like you beat me to writing a review. I guess I'd better write mine now. Or I could just comment here.. nah, I'll write a review.

One quibble- the controversy about the Royal family's response did make it over here. At least, I remember when the Queen finally addressed the people, and that it was a big deal because everyone thought she had reacted so coldly up to that point. Maybe you were just too young then to remember it, missy. :-)
