I was talking with [livejournal.com profile] marshmallow in my previous post about Supernatural and it made me remember something else about the show that needs to be fixed, though it might be too late at this point.

Bobby.

Now, don't get my wrong, I find him to be amusing and he was very helpful in the first two seasons. But let's face it Bobby = Gandalf/Obi-Wan...in other words, he should be dead by now.

I don't want him to die, but as Joss always says, don't give the audience what they want, but what they need. Sam & Dean have been falling back on Bobby for 5 years now and it's just getting a bit silly. They need to grow up, they should be skilled hunters by now, and I think the only real way for them to finally have faith in themselves is for Bobby to die.

But maybe it is too late. Gandalf and Obi-Wan die pretty early on in the story. We're 5 seasons in already and Bobby is just as feisty as ever. Would killing him off now do anything but make the boys even angstier?

I can hear you now, you're saying "But Sam, maybe he is a Giles! Giles made it through all 7 seasons of Buffy!" but I don't think Bobby ever occupied the trainer position that Giles had. Bobby's relationship with Sam & Dean is much more of the mentor than a watcher.

Sorry, just watched "Sympathy for the Devil" and for a moment there, I thought they had done it, but then it was just a flesh wound and he got better. Honestly, ever single time Bobby shows up, I expect him to die horribly. Really thought it would happen last season and be part of what pushed Sam to the dark side.

How many episodes have aired so far this season? I think my DVR has them all waiting for me and if this crap weather continues, I will watch a few more this weekend and try to get caught up.

So, I'm finally done with Season 4 of Supernatural (actually typing this while I watch "Lucifer Rising" - talk about spoilery title!) But there is something about the female characters these past two seasons that has really bothered me (and probably the reason it took me so long to finish season 4):

if you're somehow further behind than me on SPN, then spoilers! )

Went to the DCSWCC meeting and got my copy of Dollhouse from Jeff. The lenticular letter inside is pretty cool and ridiculous at the same time. I've got #142.

If you click through to the rest of the photos, you'll see the Adam Baldwin autograph up close, my Buffy Season 8 Gelaskin on my iPhone (so sexy) and lots of other random swag that I took from the free table that was brought back from SDCC.

I really want to go next year! Jeff said he reserved his hotel in December, January at the latest. So I think Dragon*Con will be the test and if I survive that, and feel like I can take it to the next level of crazy, I'll try go get passes to Comic Con 2010.

Oh, [livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly - I snagged some True Blood handouts (go to my flickr page and you will see). I think I can scan the one postcard to create a Tru Blood label for some SOBE bottles so we can haz props!

So, after hearing several people flail over the goodness that is Avatar:The Last Airbender (I blame [livejournal.com profile] snarkel for convincing me to finally add it to my Netflix queue) I caved and watched the first episode...and the second...and the third and fourth. I REALLY like it. I'm not a fan of anime, but it's not really anime, is it? It's like this weird mix of anime storytelling conventions but with a very Disneyfied/Western style that appeals to me. I love the sense of humor and the rich story that I can already tell is forming beneath it all. Again, the Netflix/Xbox360 deal really pays off for me. I'm going to watch an episode with breakfast every day. :D

The only anime I've watched multiple times is Princess Mononoke. I tried to watch Spirited Away - tried twice actually - and for some reason it always makes me naseous. I think it's just my poor Western brain trying to handle the Eastern cultural stuff. I think it overloads. Sad but true. I might try Ponyo if it gets good reviews.

Speaking of new fandoms, I watched the first episode of s4 of SPN today. I have a couple questions from the past season though - specifically to do with Ruby's Knife. Because they talks so much in the first few seasons about how demons were possessing bodies and how the person was trapped inside and you should try to save them blah blah blah - but doesn't stabbing them in the throat with a knife effectively kill the demon AND the person dead? They were pretty free wheelin' with the knife by the end of the season and I felt a bit conflicted about how they were no longer conflicted. Whatev, I'm just hoping to be caught up by September.

The Dollhouse Blu-Ray saga seems to be at an end. I placed a new order tonight and quickly called my credit card to say "OMG LET IT GO THRU FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!" which they said it did. I got a confirmation e-mail and unless I get some sort of paniced phone call/email from Fox Store tomorrow, I'm going to assume that this story is over until my friend comes back from Comic Con.

Miralce "Mellie" Laurie will be in Baltimore on Saturday at Shore Leave...and I have to work. :( I wonder how many people will ask her about vases...

I found my old Pandora log-in, so I'm reviving that account so I can use the iPhone app, which everyone says is far superior to the last.fm app. I spent a good chunk of time tonight bookmarking my favorite artists of the moment.

My rl friends and I need to pick our Harry Potter theater. I can't believe the premiere is next week!!! I have a feeling we'll just end up at Arundel Mills or West Nursery because our favorite midnight theater, The Senator, is no longer a first run theater. So sad. It won't be the same. Still, we have to see it at MIDNIGHT! I don't care what kind of shape I am in on Wednesday, I will be running on Harry Potter fueled adreniline. I wasn't in love with OotP, but HBP is HBP - it is meant to be seen on the big screen!

Alright, time for bed. Gotta read the next chapter in THE STRAIN and see if the vampires show up...though since it is a trilogy, I'm starting to get a bit concerned I might have to wait until 2010 to see some serious vamp action...

omg how is it only tuesday? I think because this week is short for me (I'm off Friday and the library is closed Saturday), it is making the days go slower. I had so many things I wanted to post about but now I am tired so just a few short things:

- I'm hoping to get my hair cut tomorrow. AD has class from 6-10 so its not like anyone will be waiting at home for me, so I figured it was a good time to stop by Hair Cuttery. Probably going to do my classic flippy cut, but I'm wondering...if I take my bottle of hot pink hair dye with me, do you think the Hair Cuttery people would give me a pink streak in my bangs?

- [livejournal.com profile] simontrueheart came over yesterday and we played lots of Rock Band. I'm trying to convince him to do the Ultimate Setlist this weekend...I think we could totally do it.

- Does anyone know anyone going to San Diego Comic Con? I really want the Dollhouse Special Edition Blu-Ray set they are selling there...

- I'm on disc 4 of season 3 of Supernatural. I'm hoping I can find season 4 so I catch up by the time season 5 starts. I don't need any massive spoilers, but please tell me that the writers realize that Bella and Ruby are a waste of screentime and write them off the show? I just finished watching 'Jus In Bello" this afternoon and was just annoyed by both of them, even though they were only in the episode for a brief period.

- in other SPN thoughts: Mystery Spot may be one of my favorite episodes in the series, even if I did have "Heat of the Moment" stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

- I"ve DVR'd Merlin but still haven't sat down and watched any of it! I will though! I swear!

- Uh...I thought I had more to say but I guess not...I'm tired. Been a long day and I had to drive home on the worst rainstorm evar. Let me put it this way - usually on 95, everyone goes 80, and even if it is bad weather, there's usually a few people going 60. Tonight, it rained so hard that EVERYONE had their flashers on and the max speed was 25. At least it got the bug guts off of my windshield. ANd to think I almost went to the car wash this afternoon.

- Okay, I'm going to go read and then pass out. Possibly not in that order...but I will not leave you unentertained. Here is the Shamwow song:

Hope everyone had a nice Sunday, whether they were celebrating Easter or just relaxing from work.

Amy and I went for a walk outside this morning, did about 3 miles on the BWI trail. My calves are a bit sore but it felt good. Now to get my lazy butt outta bed tomorrow and ride my bike while watching BSG! Must get into some semblance of shape!

AD didn't feel very well, so I went over to my parents' house solo and had dinner with them. Talk about all our tv shows, esp. BSG's finale. My mom kept asking me "which Earth did they find?" and she had this whole theory about how they went back in time and the Earth they ended on was the same Earth they found or something...it was odd. haha. She brought time travel into it and I told her to get her Lost out of my BSG!

I got an Easter basket full of candy. Well, not really a basket, it's actually an old L.L. Bean canvas bag that my uncle gave to me when I was little. My mom told me to use it when I go to Giant instead of getting plastic bags. LOL! But it is currently full of candy! NOM NOM NOM! My favorite - the caramel Cadbury eggs. So good. I love chocolate and caramel. So OTP.

I have tomorrow off because I was supposed to have Friday off, but we were closed, so then I was gonna have off Thursday, but someone needed to switch for their vacation, so now I'm off tomorrow. So random. But whatever!

OH! I watched 3 more episodes of SPN!. I did the creepy one when Meg from Veronica Mars Jo sneaks out to find the serial killer ghost. That was creepy! I'm happy I watched that while AD was home or I would have been scared outta my mind! This morning I watched the one with Linda Blair as the cop, which was also very well done. Doubt I will catch up to real-time airings any time soon, but I'm enjoying myself. :)

okay, reading a bit, then bed.

Just finished season 1 of Supernatural. I knew there was a reason I snagged disc 1 of Season 2 before I left work yesterday. When it ended I was like "OMGWTF!!!!" haha. Good times.

And the gag reel was great. I need screencaps of them in their winter parkas LOL! And what is with Jared and his nose? They all clearly have way too much fun making this show.

Yeah, I pretty much love them now.

Okay, going to watch the next episode!

Note to self:

Stop watching Supernatural while home alone!!!!! Even though you think it won't freak you out, it inevitably has at least one moment of weirdness that sticks in your mind, causing you to turn on Meet the Robinson on Starz in the hopes of not being horribly murdered by a ghost while you wait for [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy to get home.

Also, why does the apartment get creekier when watching SPN? Seriously, I swear the people upstairs wait for me to start watching then lean on certain floor boards in their apartment or run down the stairs outside as loudly as possible.

The episode I watched tonight was "Provenance" and the creepy-ass little girl was the SAME creepy-ass little girl from the Silent Hill movie. Poor kid, that's gotta give you a complex. "You're cute kid, but you're so cute, you haunt my nightmares and make my faith in the innocence of children disappear...now, we're going to dump blood all around you, you okay with that?"

BenBella Books | Smart Pop Books | In the Hunt

Okay, I won't be reading this any time soon (I'm only halfway through disc 4 of season 1) but I wanted to post if for all the SPN fans on my flist. Ben Bella books are made of win. I have all their Buffy books as well as the Superman, Veronica Mars, House, and Hitchhiker's Guide collections. So great. Definitely adding this to my list when I'm caught up on SPN.
