Well, since I have effectively popped my pre-ordering cherry, things have gotten a bit crazy.

It all started with [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy actually pre-ordering the Wii, something we've never really done for a game or system before.

Then I effectively pre-ordered my MINI.

And last night, I went ahead and pre-ordered the next wave of Buffy figures. Now, I know, you're thinking "Sam, didn't you just buy a Drusilla and Oz set from someone in the DCSWCC?" and the answer would be yes - though those were the original Dru & Oz figures - made by Moore Collectibles (and honestly I can't bring myself to open them). These are NEW from Diamond Select. Plus, PLUS! with these figures, you get a piece of The Judge (that "smurf" villian from the first half of season 2) and if you collect them all, you can build him! So, you see, I really had to pre-order them ALL. I couldn't just have an arm and a leg of the judge. nope nope nope.

Um...and since I was pre-ordering anyway, I went ahead and bought "The Wish" Cordelia figure...which bumped the price up to over $50, which meant I qualified for 2 free figures...so I got Season 5 Spike and the BuffyBot figure...

yeah, internet shopping is bad!!!! I really will stop now until after christmas....really I will....

It's going to be a very SUPER Christmas, I can tell.

I mean, I MUST have "Superman Returns" on DVD - whatever the specialist edition is. (hm...no release date announced yet?)

And now, they have announced new and prettier versions of the Christopher Reeve 'Superman' movies!

I really only want the first one (a 4 disc set by itself!!!!). Though I'm intrigued by this new "Donner Cut" of the second movie. Will it make it better? Worse? Do I even remember it well enough to know?

Here's the trailer for the DVDs -- you'll notice how they sorta kinda mention Superman III and IV and then quickly go back to discussing the features on Superman I and II.

Oh good, looks like I won't be running out of thigns to buy anytime soon!

Hasbro showed off a new series of Galactic Heroes at Comic Con this weekend! (there's a link on the side there to pictures!) FINALLY a new Princess Leia! Bespin Leia, to be exact. She's just so darn cute! And a little Lando...and a snowtrooper and oh my gosh I just noticed that the changed the sculpt on the Chewbacca figure...crud...I might have to get that just to have the open-handed Chewie....Luckily, I already own all of the figures in the "Cinema Scenes" sets, so I can skip those *phew*.

The new mini-unleashed look pretty sweet too, a teeny tiny Kit Fisto and Mace for my desk to hang out with Aayla and Yoda. And our weak spot - troopers. I really cannot have enough troopers. Green ones, purple ones, clones, commandos, stormies, I want them all. Yes, this November, I will be running into Target every week to check on shipments.

[livejournal.com profile] jimithingy also alerted me to the fact that there is a superman/clark figure that I think I want. Seriously, it's this icon come to life!

yes yes, I must add all of these items to my shopping list...

Hey all - if you want to purchase one of the collectible pins that the DCSWCC made to help raise money for the Children's Inn at NIH, now is the time! The pins are limited editions, each are numbered. So far, I think the club has just under $4000, but they'd like to make it a nice even number so the check is all pretty when they hand it over.

The pin is adorable. Designed by one of our group members, it's Chewbacca hanging off of the Washington Monument ala King Kong, swatting at tie fighters, with the clubs logo on the bottom.

It's a cool pin. It's a good cause. And they'll make great stocking stuffers for any star wars fan in your life ;-)

and here's the ecommerce link again, just in case you missed it in the above babble

new books!

Just saw this one on [livejournal.com profile] whedonesque - The Existential Joss Whedon. Looks like it's a text book, with the hefty pricetag of $35, but it will be mine...oh yes, it will be mine. (actually, I'm half posting it here so I can find this link again when the holiday season rolls around...)

Also broke down and ordered the Superman Returns soundtrack about 5 minutes ago. Amazon tempted me with free shipping if I ordered at least $11.07 more in merch, so I went to my wish list, and the new Smart Pop book on Superman was only $11.67 so I treated myself. I'm such a brat. I just want that durn CD!

OH! And for those of you wanting to reading something hilarious, check out Christopher Moore's 'A Dirty Job'. My mom sorta casually mentioned it, since it was clumped into this whole book review a few months ago talking about how all these random books coming out had death playing a major role. So I ordered it on a whim, and let me say, I love it! I haven't laughed out loud at a fiction book in quite some time, and this one just keeps making me giggle and guffaw. He's got so many random characters. It's so wacky and fun. Yes, if you need a laugh I totally reccommend this one!

In fact, I think I'm going to actually turn off my computer (GASP!) and go read because this book is that good! It can drag me away from teh internetz!

We ran out today and snatched up the new DS Lite. [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy found a coupon online last night from Best Buy that got us a free copy of 'Brain Age' so we went to Best Buy. Also picked up the 'New Super Mario Bros.' game, Nintendogs: Dachshund & Friends, and Kirby's Canvas Curse.

now I'm just waiting.....it takes 3 hours for the DS to charge....it's so tiny and cute...*stares*.....is it 5:30 yet???? huh huh huh?

Yesterday was crazy and fun. I had to go in to work from 9-12 to train our Volunteens. I had been nervous about this whole thing, I mean who in their right mind puts me in charge of anyone, let alone allowing me to train them! But these kids were awesome! I'm so happy with how it went. They are all so friendly! And funny. So that made me feel really good that I picked the right kids.

After that I dashed home and changed into a star wars t-shirt so we could go to the DCSWCC Summer Social. [livejournal.com profile] verdatum came along with us. The social started at 12, but we didn't leave until 12:45. We were making really great time until we were on this tiny back road in Darnestown (near Shucksville and Oogly-Moogly-ville) and we were stuck behind a TRACTOR! A tractor so large that it was pretty much impossible to see around and therefore impossible to pass. [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy might have tried to pass it if he'd been behind it, but we had a minivan in front of us and he wasn't going for it. So we spent at least 15 minutes yelling at this guy hhaha. But we arrived in time to eat some hamburgers and get in on the Sarlaac Swap and raffle. I got a sandtrooper and 3 of the "titanium" figures (which are made my Mirco Machines which I LOVE. They were one of the first toys I collected, micro machines, so to get these in my bag made me very happy). In the raffle I won a one of the new "vintage" Luke Skywalkers, which is cool because I've refused to buy one (they are $10 for a basic figure, twice as much as a "normal" figure costs) but to get one for free was pretty great.

Galen, the resident Lego maniac, gave us a tour of his recent creations. I wish I had that kind of patience and talent, he had some really cool stuff. Padme's balcony, his own Sandcrawler (that he made before Lego put their own version out), the Star Tours ship, Palpatine's office during the Palpatine vs Mace vs Anakin moment. He also had one of the display cases from Toys R Us which he had set up an Order 66 set - each jedi we saw in the movie had his own little set up. It was really cool!

EDIT: StarWarsDaddy posted the group photo - ala Where's Waldo, can you Spot Sammy?

The weather was perfect too. Just lovely. I felt like such a dork though, I got home and all the sunshine and fresh air had zapped me of my powers. I was ready to go to bed and it was only 7pm! haha. But instead, we watched 'The Producers' which was pretty good. Not as good as the original movie, but as far as adapting a broadway play ot screen, it was a lot of fun to watch. Lots of outtakes too. haha.

*stares at clock* why has it only been 15 minutes? It needs to be 5:30! I want to play Mario and then make a puppy and possibly paint a rainbow with Kirby!!!

This week has been good to me.

As mentioned before, I got my trading card sets earlier in the week.

Today - we found Mario Mix. Gamestop didn't have it but Best Buy did! So we drove down and grabbed it. I danced for an hour and a half when I got home and beat the "story mode" and I think I unlocked everything. It's worth it just to watch Luigi bust a move - yes you can play as Luigi! I was very happy. The dancing wasn't very hard but the mini-games were quirky and fun and added a different element. You have to stomp goombas or run from a chomp chomp - random and fun. It will be even more fun when I have people over and they play it. :D

Also, [livejournal.com profile] verdatum bought me late christmas/birthday/whatever presents and they arrived today too! So I FINALLY have the Clone Wars Vol II dvd. I don't think I ever watched all of the episodes. Plus, now that i have the DVD I can make iconses!!!!

He also bought me the Spaceballs Special Edition DVD! bwahahaha. I had the old dvd, but this one has an extra disc of random bonus features. More useless information for my brain!

I am so spoiled.
orangerful: (I got some loot // spitefairy)
Well, for a "Free Comic Book Day", we ended up spending a little bit of cash when we went out.

First, I did my run after [livejournal.com profile] blu_harvest called to remind me. Dashed down to Twilite Zone comics and got my free copy of Xmen/Runaways by BKV, the Star Wars comic, and an Archie comic for [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy. Then I made the mistake of browsing. They had the latest 'Nextwave' so I snagged that. And I noticed the two TPBs of 'Y THe Last Man' that I was missing soooo snagged that too. So now I have 1-6 and am waiting impatiently for 7 to come out next month.

Then I went to Target. The new 'Dinosaurs' DVD was there so I grabbed the last copy. I also noticed that the Veronica Mars dvds were on sale for $23...which sounded like a very good price but I wasn't sure if it was less than the all mighty Amazon.com, so I decided to double check when I got home.

So I went home and told [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy about the VM dvds and saw that Amazon actually wanted more for them, so we ran back over to Target and grabbed a boxed set, and on the way to the checkout they also had the Wallace & Gromit adventures DVD for $10! *yoink*

Then we bought snacks and drinks because Bill & Beth were coming over to hang out, so cha-ching there. And then we did sushi for dinner.

All in all, not our cheapest weekend. But we had a lot of fun with Bill & Beth so that worked out. I kicked MAJOR butt during Tripoly. Didn't do quite as well at Mario Party 6. Mario Tennis and Mario Golf I'd say I was about average.

Anyway, the moral of the story is - [livejournal.com profile] orangerful should not go into a comic book store the day after payday.

Looks like Hot Topic is re-stocking the classic Serenity logo shirt AND adding a new shirt, with Jayne's great quote "Let's Be Bad Guys" across the front.

[livejournal.com profile] imabandmagnet let me know as SOON as you get these. I will be there. That or I could order them online...it says if I order before Sunday night I can get 20% off my order! *is tempted*

They will be mine. Oh yes. They will be mine.
orangerful: (slayer button // orangerful)
[livejournal.com profile] imabandmagnet alerted me to a new BtVS shirt that just came into Hot Topic so I ran in today on my break and bought one. It's a pretty cool shirt. VERY soft. I bought an 2X Large because it's a "fitted" T-shirt and hot topic fits them on insanely tiny fairy women with no breasts, so I gotta get the biggest size possible. Plus, I usually shrink them by accident.

ANYWAY - the shirt is odd (I'd post a link but it's not up on the Hot Topic site yet...weird. there's a really ugly looking Spike shirt up there though) It has a circle logo on the front with what looks like season 2 Buffy, season 1 (of Angel) Angel, season 6 Spike, and a picture of Alyson Hannigan that looks like it's from a photo shoot circa Season 2, but not a promo shoot for buffy (her hair looks off). But I bought it anyway, because I need a buffy shirt! haha. Plus, the Serenity/Firefly t-shirt sold out SO fast, I didn't want to miss this.

Other items in the Whedon-related clothing category with extra points for my comic book obsession - check out this jacket Adidas is putting out! It's a collection of Dark Horse heroes, and who is front and center? Melaka Fray. Sweeeeeeeeet. Unfortunately, it's a limited edition kinda thing, which means it will be freckin' expensive! But still, it's cool to see some Fray-related merch!
orangerful: (goes to 11 // orangerful)
So, after my shopping post, and the fact that StarWars.com just announced the ability to make custom T-shirts - I just went thru my email and found a picture of the new Spike 'School Hard' figure and it looks fantastic!

AND I just found a store in Georgetown with Serenity trading cards and the guy said he'd sell me whatever they have left for 25% off! Weeeee!

We just finished dinner and House. One of the better episodes this season. Even if Dawn was there whining and crying. It's what Michelle Trachtenburg does best. (She's gotta be like 20 now and she's still playing a high school kid...poor thing). But I laughed alot. The House vs. Wilson showdown was great. Especially that final moment.

EDIT: and now the Battle of Endor figures! Look at 3PO in his little chair! i must have him and the ewok. The rest, meh.
orangerful: (river more powerful // orangerful)
oh man, two great looking DVD sets on the horizon here -
Jim Henson's Storyteller - the Definitive Collection (yes, I have the regular one already, but this one is DEFINITIVE! Plus, it has the greek myths which I don't have.)
The COMPLETE adventures of Brisco County Jr !!!!! FINALLY! Release date is July 18th, though the price tag is really steep - $100! yowza. Hopefully Amazon.com will have a little sale on that one. Plus, it's the only Brisco DVD I'll ever need to own so I suppose it's money well spent. Not like I have 6 more coming out...

Ooooh, and look, more officially licensed Serenity merch I must have! I still need to spin by Hot Topic and get my t-shirts from [livejournal.com profile] imabandmagnet -- did the River T ever show up??
orangerful: (star wars figures // spitefairy)
One of my buddies in the DCSWCC alerted me to a sale at Cinequest. Buffy figs marked down....mmmmm....how could I resist? We're ordering together to cut down on shipping price. Anyhoo, I'm getting:

Willow & Tara (and Miss Kitty Fantastico!!!) I actually already have a season 4 Willow figure I got in the mail, so I'm thinking this Willow can come with me to work...

Vamp Willow - Bored now.

Dark Willow - I should take her to work too...then alternate between how I'm feeling haha.

Gonzo the Great

And if the Sam the Eagle wasn't from Muppet's Treasure Island, I would have gotten him too! hehe.

The BtVS library playset is still full price, but it hasn't even shipped yet so I'm sure it will drop after that. I still want that, it's huge though!

AFX has an exclusive Cheerleader Buffy (from season 1's 'The Witch') but she looks off to me. I think it's her neck, I think it's too long. I think it's the articulation points too...they look bad on toys with no sleeves or pants on. Plus, the "points of articulation" are not very articulate. I'd rather just have them like the older toys, pre-posed. My other Buffy figure looks fine but her head doesn't turn and that's okay because I don't plan on having her go Linda Blair on me anytime soon. Same with the Fred figure that is out. Whats the point of making her head moveable if she's going to have "pigtails" that hold it in place anyhow?

Articulation looks cool on Stormtroopers because you can hide the bendy points under their armor....
orangerful: (Default)
Yesterday, I was spoiled yet again. Went to the mall while we were out, because one of the members of the DCSWCC reminded me that the Illyria figure was out and I had seen her before christmas but felt silly buying her. So I ran back into Suncoast to get her. And as a bonus, they had the Buffy Halloween PaLz set for 75% off! So I snagged that too. Because they are so darn cute. (though whoever made the jacket for Xander was a doofus, as I can't get it on him...so he's staying in Army costume for now).

These purchases spawned a re-arranging of my desk. Moved all my Yodas around, bumped the other PalZ set down next to the middle shelf and put Illyria next to Spike...I'll post photos of that later.

Then we went and saw [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy's brother and got our christmas presents (hey, better late than never!). [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy got a cat calendar and 40-year old virgin. I got a new DDR game, plus, addressed to both of us, was a copy of Karaoke Revolution Party for PS2, which part of me really wants to try, and the other part wants to go hide the game. hehe. We have to buy a microphone before we can even try it out though. (though I think the game should come with a case of some sort of alcohol...)

We also found out that there are a few gifts in limbo. Apparently, [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy wishlisted 'Batman Begins: Deluxe Edition' and that turned out to be a Best Buy exclusive. So Amazon ran out of items to fill the order and decided not to send it until it had a copy...along with about 5 other things that he had asked for.

ack, library is closing, must go!
orangerful: (tree spirit // orangerful)
okay, I mailed the replacement CDs out to [livejournal.com profile] spitefairy, [livejournal.com profile] sideflip1, and [livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly today. went to the UPS store because it's right next to Hallmark and I wanted to get some Thank You cards and browse the leftover holiday ornaments. Snagged myself the Harry Potter quidditch ornament for $6! w00t! Seriously, for 60% off, how could i say no?

I'm surprised that the Slave Leia ornament appears to be a "peg warmer". They had a bunch of her on the shelf. That was the only star wars one I saw leftover.

OH, dunno if you heard back from the Joss DVD people [livejournal.com profile] whitemartyr, but [livejournal.com profile] jimithingy got an e-mail yesterday that said the DVDs were shipping today. So it should be showing up soonish!

Supposed to go shopping with my mom this evening to buy some clothes for work. Now that I'm full time, I feel like I need some different outfits...can't wear the same style shirt every day when you're working at the same place. hehe.

But now - leftover Chipotle and possibly a Buffy episode? [livejournal.com profile] dstntp1lgr1m and I were yacking about Season 2 last night and now I have an urge to watch some of the Buffster.....oh but which one....which one....
orangerful: (pretty kaylee // spitefairy)
Okay, so I have to order the Joss DVD after Christmas...now I also have to order at least one of these t-shirts from Hot Topic.

[livejournal.com profile] imabandmagnet, do you guys have any of these in-stock in the store yet or are they an online only kind of thing?

EDIT: ooh and Hasbro is making a Poncho!Luke for 2006! And a new battlepack called "Skirmish at the Senate" with Palpy, Yoda, and two red shock troopers plus a senate pod. I might need to get that one, it just looks cool.
orangerful: (Default)
OMG I MUST HAVE THIS! It's the DVD of Joss' seminar at the Screenwriting Expo! 90 minutes of Joss babbling about creating and writing and everything! ooooh i must have it. But since I just found out about it, I doubt I can ask for it from Santa...might have to order it for myself with my christmas money that I hope I get...haha.

weeee so cool!
