I played the new demo for Resident Evil 2, which is up on Steam, Xbox One and PS4 now. It just lets you play for 30 minutes then cuts you off.

I'm not sure if I screamed louder at the zombie cop grabbing Leon in the dark office or when the "your 30 minutes of gameplay time are up" message came up on the screen.

I played the recent Resident Evil game from a couple years ago and they used the same engine to remaster RE2, but the apparently also went through and changed some story stuff around. Not that I would remember because it has been ages since I played RE2.

But, yes, this comes out later this month, but since I just bought Mario and have a few other games to finish, maybe I'll ask to be horrified around my birthday :P

Anyone else play it?? Leon is so pretty LOL.

I bought Human: Fall Flat during the Xbox sale last month because my friend told me it was a lot of fun and that it had online multiplayer.

It is a lot of fun, reminds me of Portal in that you need to bend your brain the right way to solve the puzzles.

Problem is, for some reason, it makes me nauseous after about 30 minutes. I think it is that the little character is so wobbly and that when you get stuck on a puzzle, you end up making them run around in circles, zooming in and around them and the constant shaky camera just breaks my brain...and then my stomach.

I haven't actually thrown up but I just feel ill after I stop. Which sucks because it is really fun! I can't figure out what would help! I'm going to play online with my friend next week and I'm worried I will die halfway through LOL. I wonder if I sat in the center of the couch or changed the TV's resolution or something.

And, with that, I'm going to get into bed because apparently making myself feel ill also makes me tired.

And it's 11:30pm and I've been up since 6:30 because the cat's water fountain was low and started making weird noises which always sends Apollo into a panic, yowling fit. Blah.

Sunday tomorrow!! I am sleeping until I am awake!!

Goodnight!

There are basic years, and then there are years with us. Welcome to #xboxyearinreview

This was the freakin' weird "snowglobe" that Xbox created for me after I went through my "Year in Review". I apparently played Monster Hunter: World a lot longer than I realized before getting frustrated by how bad I was LOL!

I'm really surprised that Forza Horizon 3 didn't show up AT ALL...or New Vegas. I know I've logged way more hours in those than it is showing. It makes me think they pulled these stats from October...I'm having trouble finding the spot on the Xbox site where I can see how many hours I've spent with a game because now I'm just curious!

Do you play Xbox? What freaky creation did Microsoft make you? What games did you play the most this year?
orangerful: (Default)
Any of you lovelies have an interest in these games for the Xbox 360? All in perfect condition, they are just ones that Tim and I both owned so when we combined our collections, they became duplicates and have sat in the closet for several years now.

I think most of them are backwards compatible now on the Xbox One (except for the Rock Band games).

If you could just pay for shipping and get them out of my house, that would be great!

L.A. Noire
Skyrim
Mass Effect 3 (Collector's Edition)
Fable 3
Gears of War
Gears of War 2
Rock Band
Rock Band 2
LEGO Rock Band

Let me know if you have any interest!
orangerful: (senua)
Yeah, I made a Senua icon. I'm obsessed. Deal with it.

I can already feel the gaming hangover setting in - anything else I pick up to play I'm like "Ugh, this is not as emotionally engaging as Hellblade!"

I did pick up Witcher 2 again. I do enjoy that game but I can't play it when Tim's daughter is around because the Witcher does love to get it on with the ladies. The sex scenes are pretty explicit, even if they are a little ridiculous since the graphics are not top notch (the game is several years old). I need to read the novels, Tim has all of them, and they seem like fantasy I could actually get into.

If you are in need of a spooky game for October, we just finished Layers of Fear and it was CREEPY! Tim could hear me screaming from downstairs because there were so many jump scares and startling moments. I actually made Sylvia control the character because I was too terrified. It says to play with headphones on but I couldn't even play with the lights off LOL. It doesn't have a whole lot of replay value but if you can get it for $10 or less, it's worth it.

We are going to see "IT" tomorrow after work. Which means it will be a long night because the movie is just over 2 hours LOL. Oh well...I may have failed to mention the run time to Tim. Shhhhh
orangerful: (lara pwned bitch // orangerful)
Quick quick if you have an Xbox 360 or Xbox One, get your free copy of Witcher 2 !!! It will be free until February 5th. It says it is available in all markets except Japan (aw, poor Japan).

Tim has been playing Witcher 3 SO MUCH and I listened to him play a lot of the other two titles. Now I am compelled to start playing them because the story is so fascinating. I started Witcher 1 the other night, but since it is in Tim's library on Steam, I can only play when he is NOT on his PC...so it's a bit tricky...I still have to finish Fallout 4 of course...

Some nights after dinner, we open up the YouTube app on the Xbox and just start watching random stuff. Usually it's clips from Jimmy Fallon or Conan O'Brien but a few weeks ago, Tim stumbled on a a channel with lots of "top ten" this and the videos that were amusing, even though some were a bit of a stretch since this was all the channel did. Then one of the Suggested Videos linked to a show called "OutsideXbox".

There are three of them - Jane, Mike, and Andy. They are British. They are darlings. I can't stop watching the videos.

I think what I like most (apart from the fact that Jane is there representing the ladies) is that they are never really *mean* about things. Yes, they are snarky and poke fun at a lot of video game cliches, but the humor comes from a happy place. The show is about Xbox games but they don't sit and take potshots at PC, PS4, or Wii games and frequently reference classic titles from these systems when doing their lists.

And I am addicted to this channel. My gateway drug was all the silly lists of ridiculous things, like achievements and easter eggs. Then the other night, Tim clicked on them playing through a portion of the Slender game, and while I have never really been into watching other people play games, I think having the 3 of them in the room together made this SO much fun to experience. Instead of a gamer talking to themselves, we had the three of them laughing and jumping together (and Mike acting like he wasn't scared but we know he was screaming internally the entire time).

To top it off, each Friday they post a "Show of the Week" wish some highlights and comment reactions from the videos uploaded during the week, which usually has another list and some antics in the studio.

So if you're in need of a gamer show (I didn't even know I was until I started watching!) then give OutsideXbox a try!

We submitted an offer on the house but have heard nothing. Ugh! Hopefully we will hear back tomorrow. Since it's a foreclosure/Fannie Mae, our realtor warned us they might not respond as quickly as a human seller does. IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY THOUGH! I'm not a very patient person as it is so I have literally been staring at my email ALL DAY.

Except for the crazy times at work, which was a good portion of the day what with computer issues and 12 carts worth of returns in the bookdrop. I love long weekends but damn Mondays kick you in the ass after three days off.

I'm playing Assassin's Creed Unity again! Actually made some progress in the story, up to sequence 8 now. I've stopped doing the main storyline for a bit and I'm focusing on getting the hidden items and doing some side quests. ACU's controls are still clunky as hell and I spend a lot of time swearing at Arno because he jumped off of something or didn't take cover when I told him to. They fixed most of the graphics bugs but they can't fix controls that are just shite, which is definitely how I would describe the sword fighting. Luckily, I've gotten a lot better at running away. And now that I'm further into the story, I am HOOKED. I'll deal with a few deaths, just tell me what happens!!

I was highly amused last night when I got up to a certain point in the game and Arno took off his Assassin's hood while talking to his lady friend. It was a gesture of "look, it's just me, your buddy Arno, just regular Arno underneath this hood". Unfortunately, the hood I had equipped also came with a mask, which the program did not remove so he just looked ridiculous:

Arno took off his hood but forgot his mask... #acu #assassinscreed #videogames

Mind you, I did just change his outfit from bright magenta to the blue/gray he has on there so at least he only looked a little ridiculous (as [livejournal.com profile] jellibean loves to point out, this game has an insane number of outfit options for a series that the creators seem to think only appealed to male gamers...).

OH and if anyone is on Xbox One and wants to play ACU with me (or AC:Black Flag, since that is the free game this month) let me know! I get very nervous about playing with strangers on Xbox, even though AC doesn't seem to require a headset/talking during multiplayer.

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] jellibean, I tried to pick up Assassin's Creed: Unity again today. I have not played since Dragon Age: Inquisition was released so it's been awhile (what was that, November?).

AC:Unity was the ONLY game I had for my Xbox One for the few month before DA:I came out so I played for several hours.

And now my brain has totally lost the control scheme, isn't sure what buttons do what...and I SWEAR the game looks and feels completely different!

Though I think the mission I picked to brush up on my gaming mechanics may have been deceptively difficult. It only had a one diamond rating...I hate Madame Tussaud now.

I don't want to start over but I almost feel like I need to...

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!

I finally finished my first playthrough of Dragon Age Inquisition!

I have about ten achievements I didn't get (that is, until they release some DLC...which I'm sure will happen as this is Bioware we are talking about. Plus it felt like there were lots of loose ends lying around that could easily become DLC) and most of those I know how to get next time, I just didn't take that path while playing the game.

As usual, by the end of the game, I finally understood the best way to play. This tends to happen with me and RPGs. I don't grasp all the intricacies until the final few hours and by then it's too late to turn back, only to think "okay, well next time I'll do that".

I played as a Dalish Rogue. (I always go rogue the first time).

Romanced: Blackwall (because when I started the game, I always had him in my party and I liked his sense of humor, though by the end I had switched him out with Cassandra so then he was just my bit on the side at Skyhold)

My default party was Cassandra, Dorian, and Solas. Solas annoyed me but he was the healer and I needed heals a LOT. And then we had the surprise twist at the end with Solas being even more of an asshole than we previously thought some ancient elf trickster god (thank you [livejournal.com profile] lostacanthus for explaining that to me) so then I was really perturbed...though I have to admit I actually enjoyed seeing "Solas Disapproves" pop up on the side...felt like that meant I had made the right decision.

Anyway, when forced to choose between Hawke and Stroud, I left Hawke behind to die. Well, honestly, I thought of it more as Hawke would be the kind of person to sacrifice herself for the greater good and we needed Stroud to help with the Grey Wardens. But oh the feels when I saw Varric's face afterwards. Next time, I think Hawke will have to survive (unless I use a world state with Alistair...then that will be a tough choice).

Vivienne was the only character I totally ignored. She pissed me off immediately with her "put all the mages in a circle" talk. I didn't kick her out of the inquisition but I just never talked to her again...until right at the very end when she asked me for the white Wyvern heart. And I got the heart for her, but she wouldn't tell me what it was for so I was like "NOPE!" and took my heart and left there. Maybe next time I'll put her in my party more. I was thinking of being a Mage in my second playthrough...I feel like that might lead to some interesting debates.

I sorta kinda accidentally ended up making Leliana the Divine. I was actually all about Cassandra and then I had a conversation with Leliana...after I sorta kinda told her to kill one of the preistess girls who was spying on us. And then I felt bad so when Leliana was all "I should be the Divine", my Inquisitor was all "yeah...suuuuuuure." And then it happened. Whoops.

Morrigan drank from the Well of Sorrows. Not sure if I actually could have done it or not, it pretended to give me the option but that seemed like a lot of responsibility so I let her drink up. Thank goodness! I didn't really want to BE a dragon.

I had seen images of Flemeth in the original marketing so I don't know why I was so surprised when she appeared at the end! I did like the idea that she may or may not be an elven god. Mythal. Andraste. Flemeth. Whatever.

Though I still really have no clue what happened in the post-credits scene with Flemeth and Solas. He couldn't get the jar of pickles ancient elven relic to open so he gave it to...an insane man-god creature? ...why was this a good idea? And who absorbed who in that final scene? I thought that Mythal had transferred to Solas' body. What was everyone else's interpretation?

I really did enjoy the game though. I could have done without all the crafting. I hate crafting. I'm awful at it and I tended to find better stuff almost immediately. I also had issues finding new potions, tonics, and grenades. And war mounts. But I think some of that was because I misunderstood the "valuables" category and kept selling items I needed to complete some side missions. Oops.

A worthy addition to the franchise, if a bit clunky at times. The story was interesting enough to keep me playing and I felt like it had a really good mix of main quests and stuff you had to search around for.

Now to figure out what to play next...
orangerful: (ME garrus loves orangerful // lostacanth)
We had some of the white stuff falling from the sky last night so all of Maryland was in a panic because two days before they said 8 inches (LOL!) but we ended up with not quite 2. Luckily, the library decided to just be closed so I was able to take my time getting up this morning and waiting for the sun to come out before going to clean my car off. It was mostly melted already which was awesome. Just hoping I can get out of the parking spot tomorrow morning when the snow will probably be a bit firmer (for those that do not know, I drive a Mini Cooper that I love and adore but she is not an all terrain vehicle by any stretch).

So I used my time very wisely today - I pretty much played DragonAge: Inquistion ALL DAY. I did one of the main quests last night and I think I'm almost to the end, so I was running around trying to do lots of little sidequests and missions. I realized I had been making a HUGE mistake in selling all the items in the "Valuables" category, thinking that was just code for stuff that wasn't part of a quest. BUT THEY WERE! They were for requisitions! UGH! So...yeah, put that on the "next playthrough" list. I did finally kill a dragon, three actually. Of course, the last dragon I killed war part of a quest and it was the easiest one and I was like "WHY DID I NOT DO THIS ONE FIRST!?!" So, yeah, next playthrough LOL.

Maybe next time I will blog a bit more about my playthrough...would anyone actually want to read that?? LOL I might do it just to amuse myself.

In between load screens and such, I played Sims Freeplay on my iPad, which I have become addicted to this past month. They really improved the game from when I first played it two years ago (I only know it was two years ago because of a Timehop entry I saw yesterday). Does anyone else play Freeplay??? I need some IRL people for the other town quests.

And now it's time for gaming with Casey! STOP - HAMMERwatch TIME! :D

Xbox One arrived today!!! Just finished updating and now I am downloading the two free games for this month. I won't have any big games to play until the 11th when assassin's creed unity comes out and then, of course, dragon age!

It's very shiny and sleek. Not going to bother with the kinect right now because there is not enough room in the apartment.

Need to get some sleep!
