So we thought we were pretty much set for the wedding on Friday...and then while I was soliciting suggestions for restaurants in the Annapolis area, a friend pointed out that this weekend is the annual boat show.

The boat show that pretty much shuts down all of Annapolis as people try to get to the harbor.

And then I Googled and saw an article saying they sold a record number of tickets.

Needless to say, this morning we were scrambling for other options. But, as luck would have it, there is a little wedding chapel in Crownsville, which is about 30 minutes away, same distance as Annapolis. I contacted the officiant that runs the chapel and she replied immediately and said they had an opening for Friday afternoon! So the crisis has been averted!

And for those of you that love pictures, my Mom decided to hire a photographer at the last minute. We have the chapel for 90 minutes, so she just hired the photographer for an hour, keeping the cost low. So we should have some good photos, hopefully!

Now I need to figure out how to style my hair...and do make-up...well, they can just photoshop that later, right? :P

Aren't you guys happy this wedding is over and done with on Friday? I'll stop filling up your LJ feed with this nonsense.

OH AND IN MORE IMPORTANT NEWS ----- ROCK BAND 4 SHIPPED TODAY! I should have it tomorrow!!!!!!!!! I"M SO READY TO ROCK OUT!

I'm also playing Dance Central again in an attempt to get in shape. I got a little overzealous today and told it I wanted a 30 minute workout...then died after about 15 because the game gives you ZERO breaks when you're in workout mode. Tomorrow I will do it in game mode so I can have a moment to breath between songs. I'm also going to hook up the Xbox 360 Kinect because the DC game on Xbox One does not import your DC1-3 tracks, only things you purchased. So I have a total of 12 songs on there now, vs the Xbox 360 where I have probably 40 tracks.

ROCK BAND 4 ANNOUNCED FOR 2015 RELEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG OMG OMG!

And they are hoping that all of the DLC from the original Rock Band games will transfer over.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry/not sorry. I freaking LOVE ROCK BAND! It is THE party game and I have had more non-gamer friends join in with me and play it until 3am, drunk singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the top of our lungs than I can count.

Wow...Tim and I really need to get a house so we can play this as LOUD AS WE WANT TO!!!!!!1
orangerful: (xbox avatar // orangerful)
So, I ran over to Gamestop after work today only to realize that the Kinect comes out Thursday. Who the heck releases anything on a Thursday???? And just to rub it in, the text from Gamestop reminding me about my pre-order came right as I was leaving the store. Ah well, at least I got my Rock Band 3 song code, which was missing from my original reciept. Time to play "Burning Down the House"!

Now - should I stay up super late tomorrow and go to the midnight launch of the Kinect or just pick it up after work on Thursday? Probably should go home Wednesday since I have Babies in Bloom first thing in the morning Thursday...but still...it would be cool to have it in my hands at midnight...but I wouldn't get home until 1am and I'd have to be up by 7...yeah, I'm thinking sleep wins over the Kinect this time. Plus it's sort of a reward for getting my lazy but out of bed on a Thursday when I usually get to sleep in...I always have coffee before a Babies program because I pretty much have to spaz for 20 minutes to keep their short little attention spans focused...now where was I?

Rock Band 3 is a lot of fun. The song lists was weird but they had to try hard to find rock songs with piano in them that were fun for everyone. I'm looking forward to the Billy Joel track pack scheduled for release later this month. But I think they tweaked the game in all the right places. It's so much easier to drop-in/drop-out when you're playing with a group and the fact that you can finally change difficulty DURING the song is brilliant. I watched Alan play the drums on pro-mode and it was insane! I started the pro-mode keyboard lessons but I keep wanting to use my left hand and as far as I can tell, you are only supposed to use your right hand (because the game guys at Harmonix really think I want to rock a Key-tar...and I just can't bring myself to do it). Right now I just set it on my lap and that sorta works. I managed to play on Expert last night, but it was only on "I Love Rock and Roll' and "Yoshimi vs the Robots"...

Have only played a little bit of Sims 3:Late Night but so far it's fun. Almost feels like a different game with the way the city is set up. I've got two Sims going right now, a brother and sister living together in an apartment, trying to make their way in the big city. Cyan and Stanley. Cyan is trying to be a movie star because her lifetime wish is to be a celebrity. Stanley isn't sure what he wants to do except date a lot of ladies (he has the heartbreaker lifetime wish). But I'm hoping he will be able to start his own band. He was rocking the bass at the night club and the ladies loved it, so I think he's going to start recruiting members.

ACK! Just looked at Xbox Live and the DLC on sale this week is all DragonAGE! Shoot. I haven't downloaded any of the DLC for this game - those of you that have ([livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly), are they worth it? Or, let me say, which one is the best? I got Microsoft points burning a hole in my virtual pocket and with these at half off, it's hard to resist.

Civilization 5 still eats up a good chunk of my time because on of my library buddies has the game and it's a lot more fun when you play together. I've only managed to do a domination and time victory so far. I'm trying to get a cultural victory but you really have to plan ahead for that. You need someone to watch your back because you can't build soldiers AND culture at the same time if you want to win.

Speaking of which, I should probably eat some dinner before Tim logs online and wants to conquer the world! Cant' fight with Hiawatha on an empty stomach!

I just posted a link to this article that Harmonix released today

Now, I must react. I apologize in advance

fangirling beneath, you have been warned )

I'm intrigued by the PRO Mode. Might actually try that out. After I complete my 700 goals in career mode BAZINGA!

OMG I'M NAMING MY ROCK BAND 3 BAND "THE BAZINGAS" - I'm calling it now people!!!! DO NOT TAKE IT! :-P

Yeah, I'm totally buying the whole package when this comes out, upgrading all my equipment.

Frak, I was gonna play Mario but now I really want to play Rock Band....

It's gonna be a geeky week coming up, I can FEEL IT!

First - Beatles Rock Band announced today that the rest of the songs from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band will be available to download on Tuesday!

Second - Xbox sent me an email saying that the big update will happen on Tuesday, which will give Gold members access to Facebook, Twitter, and Last.Fm via Xbox Live. Yes, I may have to go gold next week.

Third - Joe gave me back Bioshock this week. He said it was making him too tense. Which means I can start my replay on hard-mode. OH YEAH! Splicers BEWARE!

Fourth - DCSWCC meets tomorrow and it's the annual customization meeting! We're making custom cardbacks or something...I will document with my camera. Plus, this is my first meeting since Dragon*Con so I will bring my photos along with me to show off how awesome me and [livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly are. :D

Fifth - FIVE! FIVE TALKING POINTS! AH-HA-HA-HA!

OH, and to top it all off, Edward James Olmos AND Katee Sackhoff are going to be at Shore Leave in July!!!!! I am SO going to that!

Downloaded Abbey Road for Beatles Rock Band today. OMG SO FUN! I played through the big B-side medley on expert vocals and survived. Even got 5 stars! Can't wait to do it with a full band (hopefully next weekend at the Halloween shindig).

I also managed to score 5 gold stars on expert vocals for Paperback Writer and I Am the Walrus. Not too shabby.

And then we had dinner and AD passed out so I decided I better be quiet for a bit.

Going through all the [livejournal.com profile] whedon20in20 posts now to see everyone's icon sets since I finally finished mine (you can see my set at [livejournal.com profile] orangerfulboxes). I'm always afraid to look at the sets before I complete because I don't want to feel intimidated or swayed by what others have created. Lots of people had similar ideas to mine and if I had seen their icons before I made my set, I probably would have sat here worrying they weren't good enough. All in all, it's not my best 20 ever. I rushed a few near the end to get done on time. But there are a few stand-outs that I'm happy with. (and yes, I did sign-up for round 3 even though I was also going to try to do NaNoWriMo...I am crazed).

Having sort of a weird time with work. I don't want to complain on here because I know a few people on my flist are just trying to find jobs right now and I feel like I should stfu about things like. But URGH sometimes I get very frustrated by the way things are, especially when I've seen them run so much smoother elsewhere. There, that's it, that's all I will say. Oh, and that I didn't get my MASTER'S degree to work at Blockbuster...okay done now.

Man, I really want to re-watch Buffy. Is there a buffy re-watch comm? I mean, I could just watch my dvds on my own, but it would be nice to babble with people about it. Though I completely failed at the bsg re-watch...but Buffy is far less depressing.

I only have one more episode of Supernatural to watch and I will be all caught up! So far, not blown away by this season but still enjoying it. "Fallen Idols" was a great episode. Was happy to see the return of a few other characters too. Though my earlier rant about Bobby still stands.

Has anyone read Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind? I know it is the basis for Legend of the Seeker and I am really enjoying that show (after I catch up on SPN, I will catch up on that...thank you Netflix Instant View!). I don't usually read full-on fantasy (I like fantastical elements but usually get bored during all the world building chapters) but I was thinking maybe I could get myself to read this because of the tv tie-in. Is it any good?

Harry Potter Ultimate Editions on blu-ray. OMG these look awesome!!!!! Now, I would probably only get years 1-3 because I haven't even rewatched my dvds of 4 & 5 yet. But still HOMG! Look at the pictures of wittle Baby!Daniel, Baby!Rupert, and Baby!Emma in the video. So adorable. Plus, 5 hours of extras *drool* I'm such a "special features" junkie.

Up in the air about Lego Rock Band. The setlist is full of some guilty pleasure goodness (P!NK, Boys Like Girls) plus the frakkin' Ghostbusters song. Best part is, for what I'm sure will be a small fee (my guess is $5, like RB1) you can transfer all of the Lego RB songs to your Xbox harddrive and play them in normal Rock Band.

I'm the Featured Gamer of the Week on [livejournal.com profile] morefun_xbox360! Check out my answers to the five interview questions they asked me here.

Autographs are $20 and include a photo-op with me. ;-)

I just played some Rock Band - let me tell you, the new Rock Band site is AWESOME! They just added an area where you can link to your gamer profile and access your characters. Then you can download fun photos of your band members, even buy a poster of your Rock Band Band and, if you're really hardcore, get a figure sculpted of your character!!! So cool. They had talked about this a bit when RB2 game out but then it sort of went away. I was looking at the new downloadable songs today ("Ironic" and "Head Over Feet" now live on the Xbox harddrive) and found it. So, if you're a rocker, find me on there - you know the screen name.

Also, I totally rocked gold stars on "Linger" by the Cranberries in the vocal mode. Oh yeah. I think that's only my second gold star set - the other song I have it on is "Still Alive" from Portal.

My parents came over tonight to hang out. My mom had asked about Beatles Rock Band awhile ago, so I invited them over so they could give it a try. I wasn't sure if they would actually want to play it or not, but it didn't take much coaxing to get them to try. Everyone had a turn on guitar, drums, and vocals. We even finished off the Beatlemania just singing with the 3 microphones, doing harmonies and such.

Then I remembered Mom liked Johnathan Coulton and I told her "Re: Your Brains" was on Rock Band now, so then we did a set of Rock Band songs - Pinball Wizard, Last Train to Clarksville, Message in a Bottle, and, of course, Re: Your Brains.

Honestly, I would not be surprised if my mom told me they bought Rock Band for the PS3 this weekend. They were having a lot of fun. We all were! But, as poor AD knows, I could play Rock Band all day long.

I was actually doing okay on the drums with Beatles, I'm thinking I might give that a try next time I play, maybe Ringo can teach me how to work those crazy things!

I wonder if anyone has capped the intro video to the game, it's so beautiful...I need to make some Beatles icons. I feel a Beatles nostalgia post coming on...you have been warned!

*shakes fist at [livejournal.com profile] colls* LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO! I SIGNED UP FOR [livejournal.com profile] bsg_20in20! And you stole the hotness that is Jamie Bamber! I'm going to do Grace Park because she is pretty.

Amy and I rocked out on Beatles tonight, actually played through the entire Story Mode in one sitting. Yeah, we're hardcore like that. I love the intro and outro movies to the game, just a really cool style. I would buy posters/lithographs of that artwork. I gotta work on my harmonies and guitar playing skillz. Need to see if I can get some gold stars on vocals too.

Oh, and just to prove even more that I'm horrible with dates - besides calling my mom on Friday to wish her a happy birthday (and being told her birthday is, in fact, today), I drove home from work and ran into Target looking for the new Paramore CD and I was really upset they didn't have it on the shelf. Then I drove to Wal-Mart and it wasn't there, and I asked the sales associate and he said he didn't know what they had because they don't stock the shelves. So then I called Best Buy and they knew right away that I am a moron - "The new Paramore CD comes out next week, Sept 29th," At least I was in my car, so they couldnt' see me facepalm.

But I did pick up Pearl Jam's new album Backspacer and, on impulse, I bought the Pete Yorn/Scarlett Johansen CD. Hopefully it doesn't suck (the PY/SJ CD, I know PJ will be solid).

My Star Wars club has their falls cook-out this Saturday, here's hoping the weather behaves!

I can't believe today is only Tuesday...this week is being long. For some reason I thought Monday was Thursday...blah. I should probably get to bed. But if I go to my bed, I need to read Marked by P.C. Cast because I have to read it for Books for the Beast next month...and I do not like it. It's just painfully bad. The writing is so...think "Juno" - trying SOOO hard to be hip that you know that they are clearly not cool at all. This probably wouldn't have been an issue if I had read it a few months ago, but after reading the masterpieces that were Unwind and Catching Fire, I'm having a hard time forcing myself to read something this bad. Maybe I'll put it off until next month.

The Beatles Get Standalone Music Game from Rock Band Developers

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!

This is like...a dream. I mean, I had heard that Apple was in negotiations with Harmonix and the Guitar Hero people, to see who was worthy of the Beatles tunes. I never imagined they would actually do what every single Beatles fan has always dreamed they would do.

WOW!

Now, I wonder how long it will take for this to be released....

oh the memories. Rock Band's download this week is The Offspring Pack01 - featuring such classics as Pretty Fly (For a White Guy) and Self Esteem. I remember listening to these songs though I didn't realize how well I knew them until I started googling the videos to try to decide if I wanted to buy them.

Oh yeah, I did.

And it looks like BMG has posted all of the Offspring videos on the YouTubez. Nice. So while I'm rocking out like a dufus over here, you can amuse yourself with these 90s gems:

I just spent 20 minutes creating a logo for my band on Rock Band 2...and then I went to browse the Rock Band website to see if they transfer the logos to the website, so I could show it off, and found out ANOTHER person chose the exact same band name as me -- rowdy librarians! Except they are "The" and I am not.

Blurgh, so sad! Now I must try to remember another random phrase I have said in my life and then said "oooh that would be a good name for a band".

Ah well, time to start taking picture of the TV again so I can show off my new rockin' avatars - Griddie and Ekho!
orangerful: (rock band // orangerful)
So, while my wrist recovers from all that rocking, I wanted to post some random stuff about Rock Band 2:

I like that the game mechanics are the same as the original. I like the tour mode. I need to use my free month of Xbox Live that I got inside one of my games so I can try out the xbox live tour mode with Alan.

I'm actually decent on HARD mode with guitar. I don't know a lot of the songs so I haven't tried as many with vocals yet, unless AD is there to save me!

I love the opening video with the two bands battling it out on the road. haha. So cool.

I did a few challenges today and it unlocked the a bunch. They even have special challenges for downloaded songs! Griddie (my guitarist/bassist/vocalist) got $111 in extra cash for completing the Ramones challenge.

Also, can I get extra points for knowing the lyrics to "Rye or the Kaiser" and singing that over the top of "Eye of the Tiger"? I mean, that should count for something!

okay, back to the game!
orangerful: (rock band // orangerful)
Harmonix announced Rock Band 2, schedule for release in September on Xbox360!

Best part: Everything is still compatible. All the controllers will still work and the downloaded songs will also work. You just get to rock harder.

HECK YES!
orangerful: (rock band // orangerful)
Rock Band and McDonald's have teamed up this month and have put a few songs on sale for 99 cents (to go with McDonald's $1 value meal). So if you haven't purchased all of the songs, there are a few you can snag for less over the next few weeks!

Unfortunately, I think I already paid full price for most of them and I don't want the rest. :\ But I thought I would pass it on!

5/6/08-5/12/08 :
Crushcrushcrush – Paramore
Rock ‘n Roll Band – Boston

5/13/08-5/19/08 :
Shockwave – Black Tide
Sugar Magnolia – Grateful Dead

5/20/08-5/26/08:
We Care A Lot – Faith No More
All the Small Things – Blink 182

5/27/08-6/2/08:
Gimme Three Steps – Lynyrd Skynyrd
Dirty Little Secret – All-American Rejects

rock on!

Sweet - next week's DLC (that's "downloadable content" for you non-Xbox peeps) for Rock Band is the "Classic Rock Pack 01" which includes "Message in a Bottle" by Police, "Call Me" by Blondie, and "Simple Man" by Lynrd Skynrd. I believe I will buy all 3 in the pack. I know I can pwn "Message" because I pretty much pwn the other Police songs (except for 'Next To You' *shakes fist at ridiculous tempo*).

AD & I are tearing the concert scene up on Rock Band. We've got our tour bus and roadies. Next up, the jet plane. This is with our new band "The Izzies" - I'm on vocals (Shay-la) and guitar/bass (Kara) and AD plays guitar/bass (Avril) (all 3 are looking particularly hot right now, I need to snap some pics).

So far, we've only died like once and that was because it was some stupid song that we had never played before (I unlocked it with my guitarist in solo mode...I just made weird noises the whole time and somehow managed to survive the vocals).

AD says every time I sing "Brass in my Pocket" he wants to watch 'Lost in Translation'. So I went and found the video clip of Scarlett Johansen singing karaoke in the movie so we can get a fix after rocking out:

And now we're going to watch BSG again beause last night's episode was just that good. Lordy, I missed my scripted television!
